Battlefield 1

Apologies if there is a thread on this. Couldn't see one.

Tldr:

Its more of the same but different enough to be very enjoyable.
Looks incredible.
Feels genuine to the era and the conflict.
Unlock system is better that before.
Best in the series of modern games from DICE so far I think.

It's a little pricey from origin direct...cdkeys have it for £37 for the standard edition which isn't bad.

Anyone else tried and enjoyed?

I found the beta to be horrible. Making airplanes spawn in mid-air, etc.
I heard the full game is more fun but i gotta send a message that i hate fps games moving away completely from big non-restricted maps.

This whole "gotta get the player into the action right away" thing is annoying.

Really? You can still only spawn in certain places. Points your team hold or on squad mates etc. No different to any battlefield game in that sense. I do like how they present it though as an overview that you "zoom down into" when you make a deploy selection.

I've not had time for any multiplayer yet, but the "Campaign" story I have played so far (Galipolli) is pretty good, if a bit easy (on Normal).

I liked the way in the intro you played through a series of soldiers, and when they died, that was that. It would have been interesting if this had continued, but that would screw any storylines with single characters up. It really makes you think every time it says "Joe Bloggs 1889 - 1915"

Loving the experience, though, and if it weren't for 2.2 dropping this week, I'd have been playing it a lot.

As it is, I'm en-route to unlocking Palin, "Mysteries" and all that jazz. BF1 will have to wait a bit.

Played through the campaign/war stories and loved it. Feels very odd going all stealthy in a battlefield campaign, but a refreshing change from the constant all out "Michael Bay" action of previous bf campaigns.

Some missions were really memorable and worthy of multiple playthroughs, bit of a spoiler, but below is a quick playthrough of my favourite mission so far :)

I think as good as the singleplayer is, it could still do with being a bit longer, maybe they'll add some more stories via dlc.

Graphics wise it's the best looking and best optimised game I've ever played, 4k/60fps/ultra settings without breaking a sweat on my mid range rig. Have to drop the resolution scaling down to ~85% for multiplayer, for whatever reason it's a bit more demanding on your hardware than the singleplayer.

Preordered it for £32 through cdkeys, bargain :)

The multiplayer is probably the best I've played in years. Certainly the best of the recent BF games. I'd say if you got any enjoyment from any bf game in the past you'll enjoy this.

Got the standard edition on a whim not having read much into it or expecting anything brilliant, was just a dry period for other games and I took a chance. Glad I did I'll be buying the extended edition.

Very much keen to get my hands on this but I've been swayed toward Skyrim and Football Manager 2017 next week. All very different games, but you have to apply some sort of budget to buying games!

My little brother pre- order it , we play still BF4 so now
Litlle brother has it , me , big brother and one of twin brother and little sister and her boy friend and his brother got it.
PS4 where we play online.
I got the Ultimate edition on PSN. Something we play grey every week through year or years don t care what it cost , its cents per hour Fun. If you play it a lot.

Been playing multiplayer, rank 22 at the moment, best BF so far I'd say, needs some balancing but not bad. Friend me, zytryx, if you want to team up

Single player campaign is original, nice the idea of tell a series of "stories".

Multiplayer is very good and funny, the problem are the players, looks like they play a class for the weapons and not for the role, i mean, rarely you find the medic that heal/rev you, or a support that drop the damn ammo crate :(

That wouldn't totally be my experience personally. Sure there are some knobs that don't play the role but on the whole I'm finding people are playing the roles.

Definitely agree on the comment about it being the best of the recent BF games for sure. It's very good looking and plays very nicely indeed. My stand out annoyance though is the collision detection which can be very inconsistent especially when faced with trying to jump over things that should be jumpable but aren't. This is especially noticeable when evading fire and your stuck trying to Ault something a foot high but then get stuck and dying.

My only complaint about the multiplayer is it somewhat destroyes the sombre tone of ww1 when you see a flamethrower guy teabagging the smouldering remains of what a few seconds before were your squadmates.

On a side note, I play as a medic and always go for the revive over going for a kill, occasionally I'll play as support and throw ammo at everyone I see too, I may be rubbish (only a lvl9) but I always try to play the role :)

Could be i'm not lucky with servers :(

Same here play support a lot and tossing ammo everywhere, also always go for the revive when playing medic. Rarely play scout because I hate snipers, always ruin my fun.

Just bought this, and I'll preface it with I don't play FPS games.

Played the intro while waiting on a mate coming round and was blown away. It was fast and fun. Mate arrives and we spend the next 7 hours playing some of the single player then a short while messing with multiplayer. All in all, I really like it.

I'm Nagual101 should anyone wish to add me in game.

It's definitely one of the best they've made in the series. I haven't played much of the single player but what I have played has been great. The multi is where it really shines for me. Looks the part plays the part. I do play fps games and I've gotten all the bf series in my library. If you like this sort of game or series you'll love this.

EA are doing a 30% off sale on their stuff via Origin if anyone is thinking of plumping for this now. See the store for details. I just picked up the premium pass with the discount just now.

The new dlc is amazingly good. I'm very pleased with it. New weapons are decent additions. The 4 new maps are very well designed and look gorgeous. There's a lot more trench warfare here while surrounded by countryside which has been blasted to pieces. Feels a lot more like the conditions during ww1 in France.

The new mode - Frontlines. This is a massive win really for them. Amazingly tense games with lots of over and back between teams. Love it a lot and hope to see more of it. Essentially it's a mix between conquest and rush but the way they have incorporated it into the new maps makes it work very well.
