Battlefield 5 or Anthem

Well, it depends on whether you want a PvP or a PvE coop game.
I personally suck at Battlefield so I played the campaign and then tried several multiplayer battles and got bored of dying. Anthem, on the other hand is a really fun, but quite unfinished game. I'm enjoying it greatly, but I also see how some people wouldn't, so... tough choice.

My main issue is that I am not that much into PvP and not much into PvE co-op. Seems like neither is my cup of tea.

If you just want to shoot stuff in an EA product, give Apex a spin.

If you want a moderately competent WW2 multiplayer shooter that, when I last tried it in late December, choked on map changes every other time and was horrible at keeping squads together, get BF5.

For Anthem, this seems to be quite fair (TL;DR: get that EA subscription thing for a month and try it, don't pay "full price" right now); guy also has a full campaign playthrough on his channel.

Yeah, that's a sign none of the above is for you :p If you find a good, fun, solo PvE shootygame, let me know though.

If you aren't into PvP then BFV will not float your boat. The single player isn't bad but it's short. If coop isn't your think then anthem likely won't work either. Seems like you need a solid Single player game. I recommend newly released Metro Exodus, it's great, very atmospheric and runs beautifully well.

I personally hated AC Oddessy I must disagree with Chris above in his final sentence, I found the game full of the same icon splurge that the franchise is infamous for. I played 15 hours of it and had enough of it. I suppose if you liked the AC games you'll find this an improvement though.

If your willing to swallow the PvP pill then Apex Legends is a great free game that's fun and pretty with great tactical gameplay. See the thread in the section here for some tips and bits.

In that case I can recommend Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Fantastic open world RPG with only hints of AC franchise in it. I spent over 300 hours playing it, last three months.

I think OP can choose between Anthem/ BFV because of Nvidia gifts? Anyway Assassins Creed Odysee is indeed a really good game. I was slightly suprised how much content and passion went into it. Definitely recommended.

True seems like a choice. I'd pick BFV at this point, if you were ever into shooters then the MP is great although as I say only if you were ever into online shooters. Anthem might be a great game in 6 months though but it depends what you are into. I would think playing as co-op is about the best way to experience it.

Tough choice though as you say you are into neither sort of play.

Well, this quote is a bit off, because neither BFV and Anthem are bad games, imho, but a Witcher 3 comes to mind:
"If I have to choose between one evil or another, I'd rather not choose at all"

If OP doesn't like any kind of multiplayer, both games are an equally bad choice and maybe he should choose a different graphics card, instead. :D :D

I wasn't going to pay for either. I have one of them for free with my new GPU. Just trying to figure out which one to go for. At the moment I am playing Rise of the Tomb Raider (still playing ED though), which is great fun.

RotTR is great. I love all three reboots, actually.
If it's just those two games you can choose from, then I agree you probably will enjoy BFV more. It has a singleplayer campaign at least. Not that Anthem doesn't have a story (after all it's still a Bioware game), but the coop mechanics are too entrenched in the gameplay.

Thanks. I was thinking of Battlefield 5 anyway, just good to get some other peoples feedback.

Having played both since I got them for free...I'd swing toward BFV.

Not that Anthem is a bad game in the slightest...it's just more Destiny with jetpacks and endless loading screens is all and that was enough to put me off installing it after playing the betas/early access offerings. I can see the attraction, just wasn't for me.

I have destiny 2 already, so no need to get another version but with different graphics. I will go with BF5.

Thanks all

The latest patch released a day or two ago has actually been fantastic. It's sorted out loads of silly little issues and added some nice Quality of life stuff. The new grand operations (battle of hannut) is very very good. Plays loads better than the other ones.

One thing to bear in mind, you WILL get your bum and associated bits handed to you in several different ways and many times! This is natural...just Remember the game isn't about your KpD it's about playing the objective of the modes and helping your squad and team by playing the role you pick. Also remember the "starting" weapons are no worse than any others just different and they all play slightly differently dependent on situation. Play them all and rank them up to level 4 to get them max ranked for specializations.
