Battles are too easy.

Assassination missions where almost impossible to beat for me when I started playing a few weeks back, especially when Anacondas or Pythons where involved. Now I'm in a fairly well upgraded Vulture and the game pretty much turned into a cakewalk. Anacondas or Pythons sometimes don't even take shots at me and I'm pretty much free to just blow up their reactor (I usually target that subsystem against these two shiptypes). I wonder if that's a bug or if taking shots at the reactor incapacitates them to a such a degree that they can't fire back. The only challenge I can still find is in conflict zones where the enemies are suprisingly well equiped and act much more competently.
 
Drop into SSS. Be sure to have insurance.
And generally find higher-ranked enemies, they are harder to beat.

Out of interest, what is your ranking now?

There have been some interesting dev posts on upcoming AI changes which will give you a challenge depending on your combat rank, however currently the devs have said you can head into an anarchy zone and try out a strong unidentified signal source.
 
There is currently an AI bug where they don't leave any pips in WEP which can leave them unable to shoot but Sarah knows about it. She is also working on the AI to toughen up the higher ranks and teach them new tricks. Soon you will be begging for easier AI ;)
 
Given that until a day or two ago there was an active thread complaining that the AI was now too hard for casual players, its possible that the balance is possibly not too far from optimal. Ms Avory's next update should be interesting though.

Yes, I read that, too and when I was at a lower rank with a smaller ship, those battles were definately more challenging if not impossible to beat. But right now some NPC enemies don't give me ANY challenge at all - I mean they sometimes don't even shoot back once - and that definately wasn't the case when I started the game! So, it appears as if the AI gets easier instead of harder.
 
Love the new AI changes.
I can still solo Strong Signal sources, but at least it's a challenge now.
Last time I got dropped to 12% hull (yeah, it was close.) but still managed to escape with a big fat paycheck.
