Be nice to the noobs

Noob chiming in.

Literally loading up the game for the second time right now, first time I managed to dock once.

I expect my space debris to litter up the area soon.

A tip to help out... Take it easy.

Extend your landing gear before entering the "toast rack" - it slashes your top speed and overcontrolling the throttle isn't such a hit.
Turn on your lights so other folks can see you at a greater distance - less chance of a shunt with one of your fellow noobs killing both of you although NPCs will still kamikaze you.
Dock/undock with 4 pips to sys in case of impacts.
RELAX. Particularly if you're playing with a stick tensing up on it is always bad.

Any landing you walk away from is a good one.

coms is not easy just now, as already said, you get a message, then have to find them to target them, either in contacts or in space, (Unless there on your friends list.).
What is needed is a simple reply button, or when you press coms to reply, defaults to replying to last message first.

Indeed, the coms is just obtusely involved right now.

Newbie here.
Someone asked me something while I was trying to work out how to dock :D

And I didn't aswered because I have no Idea how.
It seams like there is no local chat and I don't know how to convo someone

I'm sorry if someone out there is thinking I'm a rude person

You actually have to find and target the correct pilot in order to resolve their identity and then communicate back to them. Quick comms is the Enter key by default iirc and comminicates directly with your target.

It's a real pain the tail even for experienced pilots. Nevermind answering someone while supercruising to a station, you have to cut your approach to turn around and say hi.

There is a docking simulator in the training missions. You should give it an extensive try cause in there you don't need to worry about insurance. You can even try, for fun, to dock with flight assist off :)

Or you could look at contacts in the left panel and select who you want to comm with, without turning round to select them

I now can dock almost at full speed, so I have forgotten what it is like when you first start. The worst is if you panic and hit the boost by accident, although I think this is now disabled if you have the landing gear down. I leave the port just as fast now - often boosting as I go through the slot.

despite all this, sometimes, for whatever reason (alcohol?) I seem to have trouble with some ports. One that springs to mind was when I went a bit too far and smacked into the building just in front of the pad. I bet I'm not the first to do that one, and not the last.

If you know how to play this game then why not share it. If someone posts up whinging, rage quiting, whatever... it's because they are frustrated. It may be that they are used to playing a game where all you need is to click on a menu to get the magic hair grip.

Giving them loads of abuse doesn't help one bit. Most of them may do what they are saying and go. But it may be that if they say what is bothering them you can tell them how to get past it. And then we will have more chums to play with. It may be that they will find that roaming a realistic galaxy is fun and educational

If you have been playing beta you need to reset your head to the fact that a lot of users (be interesting to know how many occasionally) do not know about every little trick

We're not "noobs".. We're the new "Elite".. watch your back and eventually your chat log :)

(...)

Did that too for a while, until i overlooked a type 9 that was just outside the slot coming in. Man, did i feel stupid when my hauler smashed into its front.

I've said 'Peaceful greetings commander' to numerous commanders since launch, have yet to get a response from anyone.

any new player who receives an message and doesn't know how to answer will start looking for how to use the feature.
so even if you don't get an reply your helping anyway.
thus keep it up :)

Same here , maybe the cant find the comunication console.

I have to say that I am new and still trying to figure out how to communicate the front end isn't so obvious so if you can communicate to them "How to Communicate" with them first it'd probably help out greatly. I've only been able to talk to 2 people in this game after 2 weeks of playing pretty solid hours.
