Beagle Point and my carrier

I travelled to Beagles Point on the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. I was thinking of going back and here is my question:
If I fill my carrier's hold with 25,000 tons of tritium plus pre-fill my tritium depot with 500 tons of tritium and have my Cutter on board the carrier with another 700 tons of tritium, can I make it to Beagle Point and back from the bubble? Thanks

Trying to find my logs but i think i used about 19K tons from HIP 118213 to Beagle
I had to refuel on the way back.

A long time ago I rescued a carrier that tried that, I do not now how their carrier was equipped, all I know was that they were desperate for Tritium and they were willing to pay blood for it:)

It was no charity run for me either, I had to bring my carrier back on freshly mined Tritium.

You can only get 25,000 ton in a bare carrier, that will leave you with no refuelling, no repair or rearm facilities and nowhere to cash in anything.

Take a look at my carrier (link in sig), its got the basics for long time survival out in the black when equipped with a decent mining ship.

Mining is easy out in the black, No NPC's, you can just park in the ring and carry on later, and what's more when empty your carrier only needs about half the Tritium that a fully laden one uses for the same distance jump.

A bit off topic here, but mining for large quantities of Tritium is a rather long and frustrating exercise isn't it?

I mean, doable... yes. Would you really want to spend hours doing it just to make a jump or two? I guess not?

What is realistic rate of gathering, even in a decent location?

Two and a half to three hours for a 400 - 500 ton haul in my T9 that's in a good hotspot, that would give you about 2,500 to 3,000 ly in a light carrier.

The only things that weigh on a carrier are carrier modules and cargo.

Beagle and back is over 140,000 light years. Carrier's can't travel that far without refuelling. You might make it to Beagle then back as far as Sag-A*, but you won't make it back to the bubble without adding more Tritium.

There are Carriers in Colonia that sell Trit so maybe go there first and restock fuel there, then return to Colonia on the way back to refuel again. But check Spansh's plotter that Zalia posted above first!

Lets put it this way, my expo to Beagle with the carrier and back took 6 months :ROFLMAO:

I see. I guess I'll review my preferred mining ship for such a trip in the future, just in case.

PS: Its subsurface/core mining only right? Can't get it from regular laser mining?

I do mainly laser mining near the center of the hotspots with my Ice Maiden T9 but faster runs can be made with a smaller more manuverable ship such as a python equipped with 2 lasers an abrasion blaster and 2 SSDM's (only 1 active at a time saves having to return/synth ammo) but I haven't tried this since they improved (slowed down) limpets a couple of years ago.

Outblack (500ly +) mining does not have problems with NPC's etc, so you can split or interrupt mining runs by parking safely in the rings.

There is an intermittent problem with hotspots vanishing but easily cured with a quick probe.

Ah, so you can do laser mining for Tritium. Its been a very long time since i was in an icy ring.

Yes, I use it at times as a wind down activity, no pressure just a slow steady plod for an hour or two.

As a sideline for those hard up carrier owners that may be reading this, don't discard Bromellite when heading back to the Bubble/Colonia, it can be sold via mission boards in certain stations and a number of carriers in the bubble at very good prices , ATM there is over 15,000t wanted for 250,000 to 500.000cr.

Laser mine in Icy rings.
What i did on my way up was bookmark some decent systems with Trit hotspots, then used them as fuel stops on the way back.
