Beagle Point Journey Coming to an End

I will shortly be arriving at Beagle Point having set off from my home system about 3 earth years ago (I have been playing infrequently!)

I was wondering about the hostility levels when arriving there as I'll have a tonne of data. I'll probably scan, land for some materials and set off for a maiden voyage to Colonia in time for tea and medals.

I see there are a lot of fleet carriers, which makes me nervous as I always play in open (console)!

Thanks in advance.

The only traffic around fleet carriers are neutral npcs. They won't attack you unless you attack first.

Even in open play its highly unlikely you'll run into anyone out there these days.

But you should sell all your data at one of the carriers there as its better to get it sold first before you set off home. Better to bank what you've amassed getting out there than risk losing the lot when you get back to civilization, especially so since you're in open play.

I think the DSSA Distant Worlds carrier is still there, it's owned by Erimus Kamzel, he who discovered and named Beagle Point and afaik its been there the longest. Its also part of the DSSA initative, put there to welcome and act as rest stops for explorers. Last time I was there it also had all the utilities online so if you have both exploration data and genomics data to sell too, you can sell both aboard that carrier.

Congrats on your epic journey cmdr!

Makes absolutely no sense to fly in open, in a paper plane, in a spot that previously seen some ganking, while having "tonne of data" to lose.
And making a post about it in advance...

The game's offering the modes for a reason.

Yep, I agree with Northpin. It makes no sense for explorers to play in open play. As remote a chance of bumping into someone out in the black is, why risk it? Especially when visiting well known systems, and doubly so when returning to the bubble with your data.

Unless you're set up for PvP and welcome it, don't become someone else's 'content' is my motto :)

Fair point!

I had no idea gankers would be there, hence my question.

Can't imagine console players rushing to their PS5's to welcome me in any capacity but I see your point 👍🏼

Consoles can have unlimited alt's so it isn't beyond the realm of possibility for a ganker to leave an account there on the off chance.
Better not to give them the opportunity unless you're going to a specific event.

True, but the would-be ganker would still need to be logged on and paying attention to notice anyone arriving to the system. Considering the relatively low traffic, Beagle Point isn't a good place for that. (Even Sagittarius A* isn't.)

True though it's a place that's had ganker activity in the past and console has likely seen an upsurge in exploration since live/legacy split.
