Beagle Point is named after the DSS Beagle, an Asp piloted by CMDR Kamzel who reached Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0 in December of 3300. He recorded the journey on YouTube which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olwfIBnis5g&list=PLlxQlUpqv8OAmzA41B5A2u2_SqVXf2s2Q

At the time this was furthest from Sol someone had been.

Recently, a group of 1000 CMDRs followed him out there one year later in a bid to map out a safe route to Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0. To honor his achievement and community contributions, the devs renamed the system Beagle Point which was the name the community of explorers had given the system after he reached it.
