Just noticed this, but the beam laser 'star' and smoke are gone. I assume this was the particle effect mentioned in the 1.1 patch notes? That being said, now they look funny. The star effect neatly covered up that the beam forms in a cone off of the weapon. I also thought the star and smoke make it look and feel powerful.
