Beam laser - Fixed or Gimbal for Python

Whatever floats your boat - 20% more damage with fixed, but you have to aim for yourself.

Considering it has awesome weapon placement for fixed weapons and is maneuverable anough to hit anything with fixed, I'd say fixed. I'm biased though - if a ships weapon placement doesn't allow using fixed in an efficient manner, I just don't fly the ship rather than using gimbals.

Dont forget: hits = damage
If the gimals or turets hit 2 times more than fixed, there is no question.
And we are talking here about Python and not Vulture or Viper.

Edit:
And the turet 3 laser can hit another ship while you are finishing your target with the upper wappons.

Ofc there is a question. If a turret hits 10 times for 100MJ damage and fixed only 8 times for 120MJ damage? DPS-calculation is a bit more complicated than "2 more hits = win"

Well yes - that's what I meant with "whatever floats your boat" - depends on your aim and flying style - I don't have issues hitting anything with fixed lasers/rails in a Python, but then I only use FA off very situational. If you use FA off all the time, gimbals or turrets might be more efficient depending on practice.

I'm pretty confident I wouldn't hit 10% more often using gimbals on a python and generally dislike them personally (the wobbling crosshairs irritate me in the rift). I don't even use gimbals/turrets on the Anaconda and don't have issues hitting eagles/sidewinders.

If you can fire gibaled and truets puls and beams all the time, you never get to 90% with fixed.
And dont tell me you can hit with a conda or python as often with fixed that you will do more damage in same time than with g/t.
We are not speaking the time using chaffs.

Well, just go and try it.
I am used to play with fixed lasers in more than 5 years (jumpgate)

target off

Edit: you will not have the damege per hit like real fixed lasers but you will hit in case of chaff using.

I'm not arguing here and actually I'm a pretty lousy shot and am mostly talking about PVE (I don't wing up, don't attack players in open and each time I was attacked in open during recent months, it was by a wing of Condas, Pythons, Clippers or Vultures, so I just high-waked whenever it happened.

For brutish, drunk non-subsystem targeting PVE fooling around, it works well enough for me (and surprisingly sometimes works on some players too).

Guys, please help me. I'm find myself in dilemma.
What to do?

3x 3C Beam laser Fixed or
3x 3C Beam laser Gimbal ?

Whicih PP do you have that allows for 3x Large Beams? My c-rated PP melts my ship after a few seconds.

Gimballed.

Getting your weapons to hit 50% or less of your time on target will get you killed. With gimbals your weapons are hitting 90%+ of the time.

Seriously. Try gimbaled on one side of the ship, and fixed on the other. Good flexibility, and amazing convergence.

Edit: I'd suggest pulse lasers for the gimbaled lasers, though. Cheaper to spam while you line up your shot with the fixed beams.

Depends on what you are doing.

For PvE i use a couple of big g-pulses on the rears (they can fire forever) and g-cannons (2 mediums and a biggie) for when the cap is empty and you are hull/sub smashing.

For PvP i run the same big g-pulses on the rears and triple rails up front. You need to have a tight convergence fixed high alpha firegroup for PvP.

As others have mentioned, if you can you should run fixed, as long as your not sitting at 100% weapon power because you never get the on target.

If you don't get them on target, you should run gimbals.

And now i ask you how you can target a Vulture or Viper with fixed wappons on a python doing more damage like with gimbaled or turets ?
It is not a question if you can. It is not possible as long as the other target turns faster than you.
With a fast ship you can do "hit and run", but we are speaking here about the Python.

This is NOT a "fixed or gimbaled/turet" thread.

The Python can get guns on anything if you put 4 pips into it and blue zone boost. FAOff Reverski is also a guns on move.

It has strong thrusters that coupled with the aforementioned techniques mean that nothing is going to get behind you if you fly smart.
