Beam lasers - gimballed or fixed ?

I love my fixed beams, currently experimenting with other loadouts, but as soon as I get my flight stick I'll be taking them out for another spin. I'm currently on an XboX controller and the fine control just isn't quite up to scratch when dogfighting a manoeuvrable foe at distance.

Gimbal/Turret pips dont *sway* anywhere near as much and stay locked on target.

You get a much tighter firing spread especially with multi-cannons.

Can somebody confirm this?

I've swapped to fixed beams I order to improve my aiming skills, no other way of doing it, certainly not if you maintain gimbal use
