Beam Question

Making a few changes to my baby, Python.

Had pulses in the two medium slots (MCs in the large)

Decided to go for beams.

So the question.

Overcharged 5 with Thermal Vent
or
Efficient 5

Power isn't a problem, heat is slightly, as a fully kitted and engineered Python can get warm.

Guess it's possible to get both distributor and thermal draw decreases but it's very unlikely and you'll be rolling alot I'd just stick with efficient and thermal vent

You can be able to use long range and have low distributor draw if you use turrets but that dps loss though

Depends how many lasers you will have, but for my build I use one beam and one burst and both are long range. No power troubles, neither capacity. I don't need to care about any small ship, just point and shoot and they melt - even on 2-3km distances.

Power isn't an issue, I have about 5% to spare right now with standard Beams (gimballed) In fact I'll probably drop my power plant from G2 to G1 and just roll lots until I get over max power.
Currently my PD is Weapon Focused 5, so I never have Dizzy problems with guns, although I may switch to Charge Enhanced 5

Being a Python, most of the fighting takes place at close range, so I'm not sure I'm overly bothered by the fall off.

Efficient. Long Range is terrible with gimbals and Overcharged just isn't necessary. It'd be better to be able to allocate pips to other systems while maintaining fire.

I use Long Range 2 fixed beams and OC 5 large gimballed MCs on my Python, no heat issues whatsoever and you can kite all day if you want to. No special effects on the beams. Only rarely do I find my WEP drained even with just 2 pips in it at most.
