I see there's a bunch of tools / utilities which help one navigate around planets in supercruise, calculating lat and long based on current heading. Does anyone know if there's anything that works in VR, so that I don't have to come out of the HMD to see if I'm heading the right way?

This question could probably be wrapped up with all the other questions about the best way to inject windows into VR. Currently, there is Bigscreen (or V) for Oculus or OVRdrop for Vive. I think they all have their drawbacks.

Last I saw it, V was limited to a selection of predetermined websites, such as YouTube and Facebook. I will update and see if it's evolved since then.

V also like to seize control of your joysticks and send you spiraling into stars. So that's something to consider.

I stand corrected! It's a lot better than it used to be, and appears to allow me to inject third party utils like https://hotdoy.ca/ed/bearing/
