Like my beautiful pristine metallic list, this is about finding those Outposts that are in particularly scenic locations. Don't know if you enjoy buzzing around outposts with FA-Off, but it's such a great thing to do and if there's a nice backdrop, even better. I'm always on the lookout for them and I'd be very happy to see others if you've found them.
What qualifies as beautiful? Up to you, but for me it's some of these things. Being close to it's planet is great. If that planet is an ELW, a Tinder or Ammonia World bonus points. If there's another planet close in the sky, or a few, that's even better - especially if they have rings. Being close to a star is awesome and my favourite stars are fast spinning stars > L dwarves > other dwarves > white TTs > white dwarves. Binaries and triples get bonus points and the cream of the crop are binaries with different coloured stars.
My ideal outpost would be very closely orbiting an ELW, Tinder or AW, with a nice ringed planet in the sky, maybe a gas giant, and very close to a blue star and L dwarf binary pair. If it isn't close to the star, then blue takes precedence as those blue ones shine gorgeous when they are fairly distant.
So here's my current list, to be updated:
Das ist alles for now. Please let me know yours and what your ideal outpost would be.
P.s. here's a video of me zooming around Burnell with FA-Off - just practicing. There is a sound that emanates from Burnell that is really creepy. Kind of sounds like a ghostly train in a tunnel. So here's my current list, to be updated:
- Burnell Station around Venus - Venus is just gorgeous
- Harvey Port at Ross 775 - amazingly close to a star which has a Y dwarf closely paired with it
- Asgarage - can't remember the name of the outpost but it's the one around the ELW - and it's very close
- Fan Station at Apam Napat - around a ringed HMC that has another ringed HMC very close in the sky. They both have Outposts.
- Debye Gateway at BD+23 296 - it's an Ocellus, not an outpost, but it's very close to a striking Tinder, and very close to a stunning M-Y binary
- Grant Orbital at HIP 10510 - very close to a rocky moon that's almost touching the rings of a brilliant creamy gas giant
- Mahler Stellar Research Lab at I Bootis - probably closest orbit of any outpost, and also in the cartographic records book for being closest to it's star, which is a lovely brown dwarf
- Azeban Orbital in Eranin - extremely close to an ELW
- Levy Settlement in Lalande 34968 - weird station with long spokes
Das ist alles for now. Please let me know yours and what your ideal outpost would be.
