TATIL is a very nice Beginner System. Small, has Rings , Combat Zones a few nice Docks and in TYR ( 3.97ly away ) you also find a Hightech dock for mostly all your needs ). In Tatil there's also all important small Ships available ( Cobra found at Roddenberry Dock ).
Plus its fairly safe statewise and well guarded.

Start doing passenger missions, sure some are for points of interest like company founding planets that aren't all that spectacular but plenty of them give up some real gems of planets. They also pay well once you're friendly with the local faction you're doing the mission for.
I typed in my last name in the galaxy map and found Adams Orbital in Beta-1 Tucannae. I use that as my home base. Its in the empire. Im getting good passenger missions and when boom comes back Ill get good paying delivery missions. plus i have a HasRez real close too for my bounty hunting.
+1 on this. Passenger missions have always been my favorite. It is fairly relaxing, and you get to visit sites you probably wouldn't normally go to.
Ty for the heads up on passenger missions. I've never tried them, but I'll give one or two a go.
I explored all the recommended places in the bubble and have to agree the pax missions do turn up some nice ones, bookmark, comment and return
