Beauty of a White Dwarf Star

I was flying around the Beta area exploring the different systems, basically just seeing what is out there, when I found a White Dwarf Star!

Absolutely blown away by the beauty of it, I probably say there watching my screen for about 30mins before I started to take some screen shots. The animation of the surface of the star and the coronal mass ejections is superb, Frontier Developments have really outdone themselves :)

That's amazing but how did you get that close?

If FD is going to be accurate at final release this may be the last time we have a chance to take hi res shots up close because we will not be able to get that close without gravity pulling a serious number on our ship's integrity.

That's not a White Dwarf start, but it is a white star.

You'll know the White Dwarf when you see it because you are mass locked at (I think?) over 20ls from it - and it's tiny at that distance - no one is getting close to those things any time soon.

If I understood the terminology right, it's not a white-dwarf star, but it IS a white dwarf-star, since it is in the main sequence (star type ends with V) and all main sequence stars are kind-of dwarfs. So ''White Dwarf Star'' is actually in a way right.

Oh, and it's beautiful!

Girl- *tilt head* uhm?

Me- You're insanely hot... but not very bright.

If you go to LFT 1446 you'll come out approx. 0.96ls from a White Dwarf star (LFT 1446 A). At least that's what the system map describes it as.

You can get to about 0.68ls to it before you get the emergency stop (cost me 2% hull that did). At that distance my Viper, which can fly at 39% heat, was 71%. No chance of getting much closer without going bang.

As you can see in the SS I'm not mass locked, so is there a WDS that can mass lock you at 20ls? I'd like to see that if anyone knows where it is.
