been away for a while

Honking is different now, there's a discovery scanner, I'm trying to zoom into things and I get messages about energy tuning failed, adaptive zoom failed, I have no idea what's going on

Can someone give me a quick explanation rather than linking a million page thread

How do I find signal sources?

cheers

Set your hat to left right energy tuning and up down to zoom in and out. Wibble the joystick around to line up on a blue blob tune until you see a white circle and zoom in. You'll get the hang of what's where on the tuning spectrum as you use it.

Imagine it as an old radio where you have to tune it in. Smaller signals (USS) are to the left and larger signals (Gas Giants) to the right, with other planets in the middle.

It’s all a failure 😂
I use my mouse to locate and zoom in. Oddly the mouse on my x52 is better for the fast swinging around and at the same time I use my pc mouse. For fine direction and zoom in. it seems to work well.

I'm exclusively using my Mouse to move the FSS, the scroll wheel to zoom in/out and the LMB/RMB to shift the frequency tuning left/right.

Works exceedingly well and I couldn't imagine achieving those FSS processing speeds with my HOTAS or any other means.

IMHO it's absolutely paramount to create a setup that works both fast & precise and get used to it.
Compared to my very first FSS attempts (still had to figure out how to keybind/use it efficiently), my current FSS operating speed inside a System is an rocket in comparison.

(I also use the Mouse for DSS Mapping for the same reasons)
