VW is stopping production of the little car, after about 80 years in one form or the other.

It's going the way of the 35mm film camera(Jimmy), the print newspaper(Perry),the dial up phone booth(Clark), the 45 single album, and the typewriter(Lois). It was the green car on the cover of the first issue of Superman, the first thing he ever lifted, and the last remaining physical icon of the era: original Superman stories are now almost entirely historical.

Hitler was incidentally involved in the creation of this car, back in the 1930s.

I don't think that they will completely drop that iconic shape. Maybe something in Electric.

Someone said: 'What is the point of the company existing, if they don't make Beatles?'

Is this another Concord moment? Where the design or shape is considered, to unsafe to sell to the public.

I had 3 Type 1s.

A 6V '63, a '68 that was blue, black then warner bros cartoons and a '73 that was a tad hig advanced and would shoot flames out the exhaust.

My bugs disappeared in 1977. The convertible went to '79.

Never bought cheap Mexi parts, only Deutschland.

Big parts place in Toronto was (last century) Haymans, later busted as a chop shop.

New Beetle is ok, just not a Type One
