Before the 2020 update, make more of the smaller updates.

The 2020 update is miles away under wraps and kipper tight. Two years is going to be like hungry rats in a sack, but you can avoid this squeaking rodent hell.

For these small updates, give us a fair indication of when they will be dropping, and engage with us in an in depth way as to what they change. For example the recent BGS update post was great as it gave a decent explanation (as opposed to a generic 'BGS improvements' one liner).

I suppose what I'm talking about is a mini roadmap of these small updates up until the BigOne in 2020™. You alluded to changes geared to newcomers, but what then? Meaningful Powerplay changes as set out in the Flash Topic would really help you by providing players with structured combat, adding the mooted happiness expansion tweaks would be fun, along with stuff like engineering effect tweaks on outlier weapons (looks at thermal conduit), ammo level tweaks (shock cannon) etc.

Although this update jam will be spread thinly, why not take this time to ask the community what changes might be best too so you get maximum benefit? Ask players about weapon and shield balance, what effects are OP or useless. If the scope of the updates are small, make the most of them and make them count by allowing us in a bit. You could show-horn in Discovery Scanner streams to show us these small updates going through. Seeing the nuts and bolts is interesting, doubly so if we have guided the final result via feedback- it would be like a micro DDA where we can decide, discuss and see these things go in.
