Being ask to pay £30.00 to upgrade to Odyssey buying direct from Frontier, when if i had the steam version I can buy the DLC for less then half that ?

Because discount key sellers don't sell keys for the frontier store I guess 
If you are that worried about it, go to your frontier account, create a steam key for Elite dangerous and then buy Oddy from steam to take advantage of their special offer...
For @CaptKirk : This is exactly how it works and how I did it for my secondary account. I can now play through Steam or via standalone frontier launcher for the same account and I've purchased Odyssey DLC using Steam distount. It is legal way and Ive had it confirmed via Frontier store support before I did purchase.
