Being Evil Does not pay

Just reset one of my commanders last night. Couple billion in assets, Elite in trade, Max Imp Rank Rear ad in Fed, about 3/4 local engineers unlocked to G5.

I thought - I'm going to make this one bad. I don't care if he's wanted, and I'll play in Open only.

I very quickly realized flying around in my sidey that there isn't a whole lot to do that will pay the bills.

Any tips on how to make a decent living from the ground up being a criminal?

First rule of being a criminal is that not everything you do needs to be illegal.

Missions for anarchy factions mate. Build your reputation in the underworld.

I made my Trade Elite on piracy, smuggling and working for anarchist factions.

Since then, I've gone straight and work for Loren's Legion as a lawful vigilante. I don't make half as much money, though.

Awesome - on it.

Also check USS regularly. Not all salvage is legal, though you should still pick up valuables that are clean, and you can potentially earn a big payout.

Or you might find a trade ship in trouble... Carry a hatchbreaker, and join the raid against him, instead of protecting him.

The aim of the criminal is to exploit all opportunities. That's why it can potentially pay a lot.

Why did you feel the need to reset? Some of the greatest villains can be Palladins fallen from grace who've turned over a new leaf, a dark, angry leaf.

You can do all kinds of evil stuff, Danicus.

Be really evil. Take assassination and wetwork missions. Massacre civilians. Smuggle, pirate, transport slaves.

Do it all man, go for broke.

SAI-4 is running around Eravate 'sploding sidewinders in an unengineered rail eagle.

You should join him.

Yeah, go to distress calls and find NPCs looking for fuel. Then hatchbreak them and blow them up.

All kinds of opportunities for evil. PvE and PvP

Smuggling rare weapons and narcotics is still an OK profit criminal activity.

(note: two of the rare weapons and one of the drugs are blocked by player factions)

Wait what? There's an unengineered Eagle ganking n00bs???

How do I join him? I have frag' cannons I'd like to test.

The dark side is great. Iv been here so long I can't seem to tell the difference anymore. If it pays, I do it. I made my 3rd billion smuggling criminals out of Rhea back in the day.

I think most of these questions are viable once I'm out of the sidey - I guess I'll have to go to find anarchy missions...

Piracy. Especially with the reinvigorated Mining.
Just remember that player piracy isn't the only form of piracy, npc's are a rather stable income as well.
