being folowed by stars

Well I was going to say... if we think this is a genuine effect that should be there, some sort of legitimate visual artifact, my follow up question was going to be...

Is there any specific "physics" reason it disappears when you drop out of supercruise? The usual visual effects seen with lensing are visible in both supercruise and conventional flight aren't they?

Also the debug camera, I'm not 100% sure whether normal lensing is visible in debug (I hope it is, screenshotting visual effects is half the fun for an explorer) but this went away in the external view.

In other words if it should be there, aren't there therefore other bugs related to it only showing in certain flight modes?

I don't have enough data to say but I suspect it somehow *is* related to the system though.

Just been googling, first hit was this :

This guy just happens to be in Maia too, same as my vid, surely that's too much of a coincidence?

I happened to see it a few times in the inhabited region, wait ...

<looking for some files>

Yeah just remembered i recorded it : Van Maanen's Star was one of them, but i only went there once recently, and you need a permit from the Sublime Order of Van Maanen if you havent one.
I've seen it somewhere else but i dont remember where exactly, i left human space to reach the side of the galaxy, i dont think i went near the pleiades, but it migh have happened just after i left human space, in the nearby systems.

It's a 'jumpy' dot that follows every move you make with your ship, if you 'stop'(30km/s) the ship, it stops 'jumping around'.
If you turn left(yaw), it will go to the right side until you stop turning, and then if will come back in the center, if you roll, it stays in the center, if you pitch up it goes down a bit then come back to the center when you stop 'pitching up', same thing with 'pitching down'.

I'm using a joystick, i dont know if that has any effect, anyway i rarely see that dot.

I've seen something very similar and managed to ShadowPlay a few minutes of it.

It looks like one of the "wobbly light sources" you get when entering or exiting supercruise, except that it hangs around. It's not clear from the video but I have TrackIR and the light was following my head movements. As I move my head to the left, the light source shoots off to the right and vice versa. Same for the Y axis.

I've had another instance where there were two of these things and I'm almost certain they were moving in opposite directions i.e. if I looked straight ahead they were both central, but if I moved my head sideways they moved off screen in different directions. But I'd have to find that bit of video to be certain.

The embedded video is in the Lawd 26 system which AFAIK has no stellar bodies that would result in lensing effects. And even if it did, the effect is far too pronounced and tied to the pilot's head to be lensing.

OP, can you quote your ticket number so I can cross-reference? Thanks.

That's exaclty what it is, though the dot can be bigger at times.

Some (but not all) of the S171 systems seems to have it near the ngc 7822 nebula.
The dot is sometimes bigger, i think i even saw a big and a small one together.
I didnt see it in a while untill i reached that region, so i dont know what it is related to but it cant just be black holes -> Van Maanen's star only has a white dwarf.

2 'errant' dots, one big one small.

Ps : it also moves when you look around.

Yep, I had the "opposite direction duo" again this evening, one slightly larger than the other, and managed to ShadowPlay them. Unless this is a Thargoid prelude in homage to all those dodging light UFO videos, I'd say it's definitely a new bug.

It has indeed nothing to do with a lensing effect, imo. Of late, they seem to increase in numbers. First even one was pretty rare, now there doesn't pass one evening without seeing 2, and once they're there, they stay with you until you log off.

Haven't checked your videos, but have you tried to put the dot behind one of the left- or right-hand menus? Do it show up as a black diamond? I ticketed that a wee while ago, as it doesn't appear to be an object that can be queried from the cockpit view, or indeed anything related to the system itself.

Have seen this before (infrequently, but nonetheless) 1.3, maybe even as far back as 1.1.

It's 200% more annoying when you have TrackIR. Damn thing goes flying all over the place.

Wish it would get fixed. First time I saw it I thought it was some conflict with the TrackIR software...this is actually the first thread I've read about it! I haven't seen it in a few weeks but I'm sure now that I've said that, as soon as I log in it will be right there to greet me. :D

Yeh, can't remember which system i was in but one appeared in the bottom right side of the screen. It Disappeared after making a jump to another system.
