PvP Being FRIENDLY in OPEN?!

See if i'm following this logic correctly...
1)be friendly/helpful to noobs so they stay in open, this provides content for griefers, griefers are content for lawfuls.
2)If all noobs abandon Open, so will griefers, and ergo content for lawfuls will also vanish.

By this logic, griefers owe a debt to friendly/helpful lawfuls for cultivating their easy prey in open?

Assuming I grasped your logic correctly, I would add another step:
3) Lawfuls should train noobs to not be such easy prey for griefers?

Exactly. And thats what i was trying to do :)

So basically what you're saying is that I should go out reverse-pirating.
Or "gank" people with a manifest scanner at sirius atmospherics. Hey, it's not a rebuy, right? Annoying in the same way as that speed camera on my way into work that sometimes flashes even when you're not actually speeding, just to shake you up into paying attention to how fast you're going.

Your description does not sound friendly or helpful. I never pull clean CMDRs. The above video was a mutually agreed friendly duel.

First off, I dig the soundtrack.

As for the video in general— this behavior is much more common than one would think. At least, on the Xbox side of things. Over here, even the ‘bad guys’ will line up for a friendly duel if asked. They’ll even talk builds, tactics, and freely share advice.

I have friends on both sides of the spectrum— Most are willing to help anyone who asks, especially rookies. Their methods may differ, but their intentions are often good. Then again, the community is pretty tight knit over here. I don’t think we have as many active players.

As for people leaving open... the way I see it, it’s better for them to take advantage of private/solo than to combat log in open play. Besides, there’s plenty of people who have been attacked in open who stick around. Whether they take the rebuy, Escape, or go on to become a worthy opponent— those are the people we want to see in the galaxy anyways.

^Same on the scrub galaxy.

The PvP comunity actually, of all the different "Career" paths, is the one that continually serves it own ends. We don't actually need to have seal to club, because we are more than happy to fight one another.

Because of this we don't find ourselves limited by the in game tools in the same way that for instance PvE bounty hunters do. Our skill ceiling is dictated by the opponents we fight, hence we constantly improve. A dynamic you simply will not find in any other aspect of gameplay within ED. Your skill ceiling is much more dictated by the game in a PvE environment.

A thing that I think is often overlooked actualy is how hard breaking into PvP actually is. Sure theres a big old grind wall. But to actually develop the skills nessasary to survive on your own when there is already a well established heirachy is a very tall order. Some players rise to the challenge and get there very quickly, but most people take a long time to become competant with the theorycrafting required to build effective vessels, or to gain the knowledge needed to use transitional thrusters effectively ETC.

PvP is the most complex and demanding profession that relies more or less soley on the other pilots in the same community to continue its existence. (The PvP community that is)

Thanks man.

The music is actually something I always dwel on all those videos. I usually go for the retro 80s neon feeling.

I think it suits elite well!

Can't rep you Mega Turnip (no option) so a virtual +1 for your excellent evaluation of PvP as a community (made a refreshing change of reading!)

PVP, when done right can be a nice sporting event. Its not all ganky crap.
It does get pretty tiring when people lurking in Solo just keep saying the same crap over and over again about PvP players.

I spent a good part of the weekend flying around Trevithick.
I flat out didn't see other commanders and I was certainly looking for them.

I was sure one guy was a murderer, but he turned out to be an NPC and just flew away.

Try Eravate :)

Still appears to be the home of those who would prey on n00bs... Although some interesting system chat last evening :D

Run into me around there and you will find another "murderer"

So many people think they are good untill they get deleted. Then they rethink their life choices

Any pro-tips you have on landing would be appreciated.
My goal by the weekend is to be able to land without bouncing.

You have to hit the corner between the pad and blast shields just at the right angle. And still some ships will bounce, whatever you do, while others will stick to the plate like old bubblegum.

I think many of us still bounce even after playing for 3 years lol. Just take it slow untill you can do it faster over time.
