Ships Beluga - always running hot like Lakon Transporters ?

Just want to ask around, since I've made some oddball observations on my Beluga.

No matter what I do, that Ship seems to always run hot. Is that considered normal?
Power Plant is A-Grade but unmodded - so it's got its full Heat Capacity, only Grade 1 Dirty Drives and a single 0A Shield Booster.

(typical sight during a Hyperjump, below 70% Heat is something I never see - wasn't even a "hot jump", far from it)

(min. consumption Test, about everything unneeded powered down)

ELITE-Beluga_Hot-3.jpg

(nope, even in that barebone low-power setting, it still doesn't run much cooler)

---------------------
In comparison, my Orca (running Grade 1 Overcharged PowerPlant, Grade 3 Dirty Drives, 2x modded 0A Shield Boosters and under full load) has absolutely zero issues with heat.
I can even tap Afterburner when spooling up FSD and still not exceed 65% heat.

(fully up and running, the modded Power Plant's additional Power capacity is being used)

ELITE-Beluga_Hot-4.jpg

(still - zero issues)

-----------------------
Basically I really wouldn't want to drop into a Binary with that Beluga, HeatSink aside.

IMHO, for a Deluxe Ship being the supposed pinnacle of LongRange Passenger Transportation, I sure expected more heat tolerance. ALOT more than this.

The major issue I noticed in Beta was power limitations not heat (fitted some beams and a fighter bay and took the fighter out and came back to a frozen airless ship!) I'd suggest a bug report or swap out all the modded modules for stock ones and see if that changes anything, I agree it's way too hot for such an expensive ship in fact that heat level is similar to that generated by combat.

Hm, since I got plenty of Power that can't be the issue.

I'll file a Bug Report after testing the Ship with Clean Drive Tuning and still running into these issues.

Especially direct Planetary Depatures need to be done with some caution; attempting any FSD activation while having to Afterburn (i.e. running from an Interdictor - seeing high-ranked FdL's and GunShips sent after me during Missions (!) ) would literally cook off the Ship without spamming HeatSinks.

Why do you think it is a bug? You are running on class 7 A FSD, largest used by any ship, probably engineered for range too which does not improve thermal values of it. The base thermal value of 7A FSD is 42, so you should expect the thing to run hot. As for comparison with Orca, wrong ship. Only other ship running with that drive is Cutter. Try that for baseline.

I dug out this thread; https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/286628-Research-Detailed-Heat-Mechanics?highlight=thermal+load

If we think the BTU of Beluga is about the same as Vette's or about 500, the FSD during 10 secs boot produces 420 units, which is 84% heat. Heat from power plant or thursters with that monster FSD is completely irrelevant. You are only left bellow 80% line due the fact that you also shed heat all the time.

Only ways I can think of to reduce the heat is to downgrade the FSD (probably not something you want to do), find an engineering roll with min possible thermal increase and maximum possible boot time decrease.
