CQC BEST ALTERNATIVES TO CQC - Write your suggestions Inside.

Maybe CQC is there for some private collage in a isolated Island to animate a desktop.
After all this time This SMALL project is a complete FAIL:

-NO Customizable lobbies
-NO possibilities to become a Host
-NO Server/Games List
-OLD Maps
-NO Voice Chats
-Eternal loading screens, without knowing if there will be a end.
-No possibilities to use bigger ships( Just for fun)

CQC can be a great game, But i Think they forgot they have it.
What makes me nervous is the waste of time waiting for a match, without knowing if there are any, just that exagon rotating, rotating rotating.

SO, Going back to the topic.

Which space shooters does the community play to cover CQC with load of [@#§$]?
I know EVE Valkyrie, what other games are there, maybe some hidden treasures that know one knows about.

Thanks for the suggestions.

PS: Elite Dangerous I take it calm, CQC it's suppose to be there just for a fast Hit and go.

I don't consider CQC a failure, but if you're not able to play during the right "primetime" hours finding a match is certainly a serious problem.

Lately I've been going back to flying in Planetside2 to scratch the PvP itch. It's not quite 6DOF but I can usually find decent fights, and it definitely rewards multiple dimensions of skill. No joystick support though (at least none worth mentioning) which is sad. :(

After all this time This SMALL project is a complete FAIL:

I totally disagree, it isn't a failure, it just doesn't largely appeal to the main audience of Elite. But it is a well designed addition to the game and has an active community, time zones more than anything fragment the community so it can be hard to find a group at certain times.

-NO Customizable lobbies

This would be nice but would potentially kill matchmaking as the core CQC players would often be playing in custom lobbies.
-NO possibilities to become a Host

This seems redundant with your first point.

-NO Server/Games List

More redundancy.

-OLD Maps

Meh, new maps =\= better maps and while variety would be nice, the maps we have are good.

-NO Voice Chats

I guess, but I've seen players in other communities demand voice chat, and then no one ever uses it. If you want a voice chat, use discord.

-Eternal loading screens, without knowing if there will be a end.

Not something I've ever experienced.

-No possibilities to use bigger ships( Just for fun)

This is not even what CQC is.

Are you Paid to say this, or you never played CQC, or you just bought Elite Dangerous.
I'm a Oculus user, maybe that makes things worse.
No need of customizable lobbies, just look at GTAV or any game that has it, even with few maps they are lots of FUN!!!! Plus there is no need of having the three options TDM,DM,CTF , just get in the lobby or check the lobby list and select what you want, but after selecting you know that the match is there and you will play.
For the maps, if the first points are satisfied MAAAAAAYBEEEE we can still wait...................Maybe.
You should come out from the Basement you live in, just go and see any online game and see if they don't use external voice communications softwares, but for occasional users is good to provide this feature at least you might have nice conversations and plan strategies.
For the big ships, that would be fun and also a nice experience to know how the ships would behave in battle, also the Big BOSS option, where one team is in a Big ship controlling ship, turrets and maybe shields, the other team with the fighters.

You know, Then Tell me; "What should CQC be?" (If Not FUN!!)

I think they should add an Arena mode whereby you act as a fighter pilot for someone else, following their orders etc, and all the credits and ranking earned are transferable to your main game account (a wiped/new account only, not a pre-existing account). Your ranking would obviously determine who you get matched up with (i.e. someone who only paid for a rookie would not get you if your rank was high), and it would also determine how big a cut of the credits you would get per "mission". Not sure how practical that would be, but it would be cool, and a good window into how things work for those who get Arena but haven't yet bought the main game.

As one of the few people on the planet that is ELITE in CQC, I can with certainty tell you, CQC is fun. IMO it is not a failure, however it does have a lot of issues. The main issue being the match maker/lack of lobbies. Because of the lack of feedback when you are being matched (just a spinner) you have no idea if there are no games at all, or all are full, or if you are even connected to the match maker. Absolutely nothing is giving you feedback on what is happening. Due to the low populating the match maker can rarely make good matches, so you get people like me in with complete newbies, and it is an absolute slaughter. Then people think I have some magic upgrades that make me more powerful (I don't).

As for suggestions, we have reams and reams and reams of posts that contain great suggestions/changes/new maps/modes/etc. Will we ever see them? Most likely not.

OT is to call for alternatives for CQC, but I do not think that CQC is a failure at all.
Some small pieces are missing and it would be a great game within the game!

- Lobby were you can coordinate matches with friends. (now you have to be lucky if the match starts at all)
- Options to start with power up on or off !!
- Make the power up's refresh time irregular (as the pilot who has the power up know's when the next power up will appear)

Next to the matchmaking (and missing lobby), the power ups are the biggest issue as they are a too bigest advantage.
The game goes only around the red power up!
Just deactivate it and this game would be much better to play for new players.

Lobbies yes, private lobbies NO, or we reach the point of not finding lobbies.
Everyone at the same levels no bonus, because a new entry pilot in CQC can be a high skilled CMDR on Elite dangerous. plus the real Nobbies will not even think about getting in game. Only Bonus should be extetics.
Also Nice would be without gimbaled weapons, so to get used to the moving aiming reticule
A Game that doesn't want you to Play is a Failure and is making people go away from it. Play 10 min and if you accidentally drop out, you find yourself waiting for hours before giving up. I go back a lot of times to try a match, waiting for 15-30 minutes but nothing even just give me a session with BOTs i don't care, but wasting your time waiting i call it a TOTAL FAILURE!!

There is absolutely NO SUPPORT ; this is really a small project, also Counter strike or Ghost Recon of 10 - 15 years ago are more Complex, Seriously Arena is a JOKE!

I think this thread is more interesting if we ignore the "CQC is/isn't a failure!" argument and instead talk about other games that can provide similar experiences. I already mentioned Planetside 2 as one I enjoy, let me also mention Diaspora.

Diaspora is a 100% free BSG-themed space sim, running on a massively updated version of the Freespace 2 engine. The multiplayer is dead enough to be "by appointment" only, but it's got a pretty kickass little single-player campaign that you can play through. It has full joystick support and head tracker support, although I don't think the FS2Open engine (yet) supports VR someone will likely figure out how to add it sooner or later. I also helped make it, so warts & all it's near and dear to my heart. :)

Is it like CQC or like Elite dangerous?
If Like CQC (Should be) you enter, make a multiplayer match, drain stress and go out.
But I will give it a shot

In that sense neither option is particularly like CQC. I was going for "like Elite CQC" in terms of getting fast-paced 6DOF (or near-6DOF) dogfighting action.

Planetside 2 supports drop in/out play pretty well, but doesn't have organized matches with clear beginnings and endings. It's basically just a perma-war that you can jump in or out of as you please. Diaspora is, as I mentioned, single player (unless you coordinate with specific people), so it has "missions" that you can play through in a session but no matchmaking.

You could also check out Star Citizen's "Arena Commander" module, which is a lot like CQC. Easier to find a match, but everything's very pre-alpha, not necessarily well balanced and you're likely to encounter bugs.

I didn't mind Star Conflict which I found on Steam.

F2P though, but was a decent amount of fun. More interesting battles than I have experienced in CQC personally.

Would love to see CQC in the main game with NPC matches and perhaps Community(G?) Leagues every now and then... Flying to a system with a CQC station, signing up for a particular team. Would love that.

Problem is that posting here is like posting in a Google Forum. And what is worse is that there is only ONE session in the Forum for CQC and they can't satisfy it. [squeeeee]
We explore other Universes, I think is better

I don't consider CQC a failure

It is.
Any "online" game that does not attract at least a thousand concurrent players is a failure imho.
Also it failed to attract additional players to the "main game" or generate notable revenue..

So I guess you have all kind of internel FDEV revenue information. Must be nice having that kind of access, or you are just blowing smoke like usual.
