Newcomer / Intro Best Beginner Mining Ship?

Any idea for a beginner mining ship?

I'm thinking of getting a Hauler with a single Mining Laser. It's not like I'm gonna put up a fight with a single weapon anyway so I'll just not fight at all, tank it with my shield and jump away asap. The only thing I'm worrying about is the max cargo it would hold without not taking shield at all, as well as whether a single mining laser would be not enough.

Thoughts? Helps?

You will want to keep the shield. The Hauler will have enough cargo capacity that mining and refining all the stuff will drive you insane if you do it too long before going back to sell anyway.

So what's the largest cargo a Hauler can handle with a bare operational ship, shield+refinery and nothing else?
