Best control setup (HOTAS)

Total Noob here.

I'm playing the game on PC since 1 month. and I love every bit of it so far.
I used a Xbox controler, and honeslty I have to says that the default setup is quite great.
I believe they put a lot of thinking in that config as everything makes sense and feels logical and natural.
Except some minor stuff like some common commands are binded differently for the Ship and for the SRV. But nothing too diificult to fix easily.

Anyway, with the controler, after 1 month, I really feel I'm controlling the ship and I can get it doing what I want.
But I wanted to try the HOTAS experience, so I get myself a nice T.16000M FCS HOTAS.

I just try it yesterday: feells great, (it's my first Joystick ever anyway) but I need to get used to it ! :)
It's "plug and play" as the game reconise it out of the box and there is a default binding.
I have to say I don't like the default binding, so I'll have to experiment and make my own. But the Joystick and throttle have many buttons, levers, etc. so I expect to set a very nice binding.

I wonder what I could do with the mini throttle at the base of the joystick, and also with the wheel at the left of the throttle.

Is there a place where people share there binding profiles ? (didn't find) or is it here ?
Is there any interest in running the TARGET software ? (It seems I can bind everything I need in the config menu of the game)

Thanks guys

I use the wheel on the throttle for sensor zoom (I want it accessible in combat) and the stick's small throttle slider for the absolute FSS tuning.

It can do quite a bit, but as an input purist (as little automation as practical) I mostly only use it for calibration and sensitivity slopes (which are important).

OK I don't even know what "sensor zoom" is... I have still a lot to learn ! :)
"the absolute FSS tuning " is it when you move the frequency so you can see the different kind of bodies ? I put that in the two "wings" in front of the Throttle.

For now I use the mini throttle to go in camera mode. Down = camera view. Up = commander view.
I Still need to set this up (zoom, move the camera, turn, etc.) as it 's something I love to play with and take great pictures.
But maybe I'll use the mini throttle just to deploy the "landing feet", because I like to see, by the mini-throttle position, if they are ON or OFF.

Anyway my bindings are still a mess, but it's ok, I'll refine it for days, little step after another ! :)

One notch above the lowest one is ideal for avoiding rocks in rings, while zoomed all the way out is handy for navigating SC and terrain while in the SRV.

Yes, that's what FSS tuning is, but there are two controls for it, the absolute control is what the tuner defaults to, and then you can set another control for up/down. If you use the small throttle slider on the base of the stick for absolute tuning, you can just leave it set on ELW or something else and both be instantly ready to scan those, as well as have the slider default to the middle to make ranging in either direction faster with the +/- control upon opening it.

I put that in the two "wings" in front of the Throttle.

I use this for my forward/reverse thruster override (there is a throttle and then forward/reverse thrust, I use that analog bumper axis for the latter). Having to rack the main throttle back and forth constantly in combat adds latency and labor, as well as costs precision on the main throttle axis if it has to be set to full range (I have a full range throttle reverse toggle button as well, but I still like having the bumper as a thrust override, at least on setups that don't use rudder pedals with toe-breaks).

Thanks for that, all your inputs are very useful !
I like your binding, at least for thoses 3 points, I'll probably do the same !

Did you publish your full bondigs somewhere ? I would love to have a look
