Best desktop color?

Can anyone give some tips on the best desktop background color to avoid burn in when the DK2 is left on? I have mine set to black (I know it's a shade) but ltely it has displaying as dark green in my rift.

On a related note, my rift now displays everything in 256 colors, only way to get it to display normal is to make the rift primary display, then switch back to my normal monitor (same way to get Asseto to work) I have to do this everytime I alt tab to my desktop. Issue appeared after an Asseto corsa session, it used to work fine before.

I tend to keep my desktop bright white for the purpose of spotting hair and dust on the screen or the lenses before I go out in to space.
I always turn it off when not in use so not worried about screen burn.

White is what most plasma screens always use so I would guess white
