Ship Builds & Load Outs Best exploration loadout?

So, I'm thinking about going off the grid for a while and checking out that sweet black void out there. I got to almost Ranger (98% Pathfinder currently) exploring the bubble and the areas fairly close to it (few k Ly away from the bubble) and I'd like to dive deeper. Now, the question is: which ship would be best for a long trip and what loadout would you recommend for it? Any recommendations for engineered modules (apart from FSD, of course)?

Initially I'm planning Colonia, then around the core and back to the bubble. Right now I'm wondering if I should take my AspX or my Conda on this trip. FSD in my Conda is already engineered and I have 40Ly jump range with current loadout. AspX has only grade 3 FSD, but I will be upgrading it to G5 as well as trying another few rolls with the one in Conda. Opinions?

check out the outfitting section in the exploration subforum portal: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/369176-Foundation-The-Exploration-Portal

you'll find a very good guide how to outfit your ships for exploration.

as for which ship... the best ship for a long trip is the one you like flying for a long time. people have taken their beloved FDLs to beagle point, and a cobra mkiii has done a circumnavigation.

the AspE is for general exploration duties what a vulture is for combat - the very best tool for the job, but getting boring for some fast.

many explorers dislike the condas supercruise handling as well as the difficulty to find a landing spot. i enjoy piloting it as it has a floating feeling, and the cockpit adds to solitude.

i'm currently out in my dbe, and might stay in it for a year - for me its the perfect "small ship in a huge galaxy"-feeling ... i started exploring in an adder.

another amazing explorer is the orca now, if you like luxury. the python could give you plenty of internals, and if iutfitted for exploration and engineered, it has by far more jumprange than an AspE pre engineering. other explorers love their clippers. some fall in love with dolphins. some still love their t6s.

so, ask yourself what you will enjoy flying several weeks, mainly in supercruise, and with some landings on interesting spots. and than outfit that ship following one of the guides.

with engineering any ship can ge a great explorer with not too many compromises.
