I am a trader, but I'm kind of new to it. I was wondering what the best Faction to join was for trading.

Do you mean “which Power should I ally with” or “which group of players should I seek out”? There’s no mechanic to join factions in-game.

How do I join a minor faction or group?
It's impossible to join minor factions, players can only pledge to the powerplay factions. Outside of powerplay, us players are mercenaries and freelancers. As far as building reputation and becoming friends with a faction, they are all basically identical except for anarchist factions so just befriend one you like for whatever reason. Some players support factions based on homeworld location, while others like a faction's name, whatever excuse you want.

Edmund Mahon or Zemina Torval both offer a base 5% bonus to trade profits. Yuri Grom also offers a bonus to trade profits, but not as high as Ed or Zemina.
