Newcomer / Intro Best fit for a T6?

I am in the position to buy a T6 at last. what is the best outfit for it?
I am aware that I aint going to be fighting anyone off so.............

Shield boosters? fast sub-light engines? Decent power plant? shields ? Jump range?

Best balance for survivability ?

The T6 can boost quite well.
So I'd get good thrusters, a good power distributor and good shields. And if you're interdicted, just submit and then boost away while charging your FSD. Works every time!

If you just want to trade... I recommend the following:

A grade thrusters cut down your time to dock considerably and make it more fun to fly, could cut your route time by 5-10%. Getting rid of the mining equipment doesn't give you load's more space for cargo but it is about 5% more - so these 2 changes could get you an additional 10-15% profit per hour... If that is a bit steep you can start with the following....

Here the FSD is downgraded to B and the thrusters to D... it will take a couple of hours trading to get them up to A

Brilliant! Thanks guys.........
I think I may plug away with the Cobra for a little while longer so that I can afford the upgrades before I take the plunge
I'll be using it just for trading whilst leaving my Cobra somewhere relatively local so I can go BHing when I feel the need for a change of pace

With it's much increased cargo capacity over the cobra, a T6 can pretty much pay for it's own upgrades much faster than you could achieve in the cobra.

Minor set back - just noobed myself out of a lot of cr...
Picked up the requisite amount of gold on a commodities mission and thought I'd fill the rest of my hold with silver that I can unload at the same destination....
thought I'd check out a couple of unexplored planets before I jumped system... All good so far.
got interdicted by a fed drop ship.. I blew him up and scored 30 000cr bounty
I then got scanned by a fed authority vessel and got fined for carrying stolen cargo I'd forgotten was in my hold damnit !
took off to drop off my cargo but on the way in to dock I hear "scan detected"
i'M not getting fined again I thought and promptly boosted straight in to the space station .... "Hull integrity critical !"
boom!!!!!!

aagh stupid stupid jedi !!!!!!!!!:eek:

Ooops :D

You were flying with insurance though, right?

This is the reason I never advise boosting towards a station, go full throttle sure but NEVER BOOST!!!!!

Assuming you still have a ship (!) my T6 loadout is here

I fly unarmed, but I expected to need to escape interdictions so I put the chaff and shield booster in. I can survive hits and/or scramble the enemy ship's targetting long enough to run away.

Trust me. NOT every time if the ship is large enough ;)

It is a risk you take by flying a T ship though. I once thought I'd test the two laser turrets I fitted to a T6, took an absolute age to take out a single Sidewinder so after that just flew without weapons as anything too big to run away from was going to win any firefight hands down anyway.

Yeah fully comp but the Excess was over 40,000cr and the cargo was worth a fair bit plus the 30,000 bounty I had yet to cash from smoking the drop ship :(

Ah RATS!!

Heh, I ran the same test :D

Basically if it doesn't mass lock you - run. If it DOES mass lock you (and is another player), lock onto another star system ASAP and then get in close quarters with the enemy until you are ready to jump (it doesn't take as long to charger as supercruise does when masslocked). Full pips to shield.

Running away only makes you an easier target, because even fixed weapons gimble a little, and at long range jinking and weaving will do nothing.
