Best Headphones are…???

Apologies in advance, I’m sure this gets asked a lot, but then again I haven’t found it…
Any recommendations about what headphones I should buy to immerse myself into the soundscape of Elite?

I researched this recently, I came to the conclusion that there are many good brands/models. So in the end you need to define what you want and pick a model that has those properties in your price range.

best headphones are the one that are within reach of your budget and still meet your requirements :)

I didnt want to invest much in them so i defined a budged and a set of requirements like:
  • good noise canceling for the mic since i planned to use them for work-from-home scenarios and not only for gaming/music
  • good battery (i didnt want to have to charge them daily so at least 15-20h of battery)
  • rather rich sounds on the bass side, but not too much
  • not at last, lightweight and not putting too much pressure on my ears/head

Eventually settled for a pair of Hyperx Cloud Flight Wireless(decent sound, good noise canceling, 30h battery) that i got them with about 25% discount from the normal market price - that was about one year ago.

I am very pleased with Creative SXFI Gaming Headset. The only downside is the wire, but the sound quality vs the money is unbeatable.

beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO Studio Headphones - 250 Ohm

Incredible Audio and extremely comfortable.

Before them, I had a Logitech G PRO X gaming headset. Great gaming headset but the DT 770 Pro's are in another league and I doubt I will have go back to a gaming headset. Separate studio desk mic and studio headphones all the way.

I'll add a bit in here...

I have HyperX Cloud II (wired) gaming headset and I can honestly say it is amazingly comfortable. I still use these when I am flying flight sims online as their mic gives superb audio reports from others.

However, the headset I wear now when I play Elite late at night* is my Bose Quiet Comfort 25 since I don't do voice comms in Elite any more.

(* Otherwise I normally I use 5.1 surround speakers.)

P.S. I prefer wired cans, I don't know what I'd do if my Bose dies since they don't seem to do wired ones now.
