Best High-Haz RES Bounty Hunting ship?

Depends how far you want to boil it down in order to get to best.

If Kills/Hr is your thing it will be one of FAS/FDL/Python/Corvette, most of us that have one or all of these prefer a particular one, I know i do everything faster in the python than the others but if you had a really non-specific pilot who was extremely skilled i'd think it went FAS/FDL > Corvette > Python, for most its simply the one they prefer out of that list.

I went with the Python. It has almost the firepower of an Anaconda, lots of internal space for cell banks or hull reinforcers (which the FDL lacks), and can land at nearby outposts for quick repairs or cashing in vouchers.

The Federal Dumpship variants share some of the same pros as the Python but I haven't RES farmed since getting the last combat rank and that was before the AS and GS were in the game.

Vulture... that uses atleast 115-125% of its powerplant. For me its most fun setup for only RES/CZ.

Most of npc that can be found on RES, will have really hard time to even once fire back if you fly it poperly. It might struggle a bit if against wings of 3 like condas or assalut ships, but thats why I like it so much. Unlike with bigger ships, hunting in vulture can be a challenge sometimes.

I used vulture for my early high res bounty hunting. Fun little ship to fly even against bigger elite npc ships

I tried to kit FAS but never actually able to bring into RES. By the time I have the credits to fully kit it I also able to afford an FDL.

So FDL was a really nice upgrade for the vulture, but having used to the vulture's agility, I can't get used to the FDL's handling. And so I was only able to hunt in high res. Another thing I don't like about it is that my target should be below the horizontal bar in the canopy if I am to use the PA in the huge hardpoint. Maybe it's just how I try to fly it coming from a vulture.

Now I have a python, it's slow compared to fdl, but somehow it handles better, for me at least. Now hunting in hazres with good results. Just last night, for a little over an hour, I ran out of PA ammo and head back with 6+M credits.

My corvette is easily my best bounty hunting ship now that I have swapped out huge weapons in the huge hardpoints for large lasers instead - something I have been resisting doing out of principal.

There's no denying though for me at least that the PA and cannons don't compare to a couple c3 beams or bursts.

The main problem with the corvette and huge weapons is it tends to fight small and medium ships at a range that makes them inefficient to use, although they are fun at taking out large slow ships. Thing is the large beams etc can also take out big ships so there isn't much of an upside to using PA or cannons except for the wow factor.

The Vulture, Federal Assault Ship and Fer de Lance are my favorite so far. As said earlier, all are great, just different flavors. I can probably compare them to Vulture- Vanilla. Federal Assault Ship- Neapolitan. And FDL- Rocky Road. But honestly the best ship is the one where a well trained commander feels most comfortable in as we all know!!

Many pilots start with the Vulture, which is very agile, so killing every type of ship is easy. Many go on to the FDL and then find that they can't get their weapons pointing at the target so easily, which makes them give up and go on to other ships. The FAS is the closest to the handling of the Vulture of the bigger ships. The flying technique of the FDL is different. You need to make much more use of the up/down and side thrusters. Once the technique is mastered, there's nothing that can match it in terms of earnings power. The bigger ships with more fire-power are just too slow. If you want to earn at a high rate, you have to be able to go from kill to kill quickly. Every ship from a Viper up can be used for RES farming iff you're not interested in earning credits quickly You can have fun in all those ships quite safely, but there's nothing worse than continually boosting for three minutes in an Anaconda, trying to catch up with a target, only to get there just in time to see it go boom when killed by another ship, then you have to spend three minutes boosting all the way back to the other side of the field to the next battle you see, praying that there won't be another boom before you get there, which there often is.
