Horizons Best joystick bindings for controlling the SRV

Hi guys. I've decided to change the binding for my SRV from keyboard to joystick, & I was wondering what people consider the ideal bindings. If it helps, I've got a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I've got my 4 main axis' of movement bound-accel/decel, left & right, but was wondering if there were bindings I could do to give me finer control of my movement.

Thanks in advance.

Yours,

I see a lot of people using the twist axis to steer the srv while keeping the roll when airborne on the X (left to right) axis of the joystick.

For me, this creates a problem when in turret mode. Since there is no yaw control when airborne, I use the control scheme devised by the devs as is. So, throttle is on the throttle axis, full range so no reverse toggle, turn is on X axis, pitch when airborne is on Y axis, and roll is also on X axis. I have a very easy time controlling the SRV precisely since day one with this so I don't understand why people have problems but to each their own. When in turret mode, the twist axis rotates the turret, X axis steers the SRV and Y axis is pitch on the turret. This way, I can treat the SRV as a proper tank.

I suggest you try this default setup and try to get used to it. After 1-2 hours of practice, it's a breeze.

If you're only using a joystick, I'd go with two comfortable key binds for turning lerft and right, two more for accelerate/decelerate, Spacebar for handbreak and hold+ctrl for reverse. The idea is to rely on the keyboard for the movements that don't require fine motor/muscle control. Then you can use your stick to boost and enjoy full control during the airtime, which is critical if you're ramping off terrain at high speed and wish to mitigate damage taken, as well as use the stick for turret control with the keyboard drives.

Saying this, I use my pedals for turning the SRV, throttle and boost/handbrake are on the stick - works very well with turret mode.
