If you can get yourself to a Nebula, the biosites yield high grade materials. Witch Head comes to mind because it now has a functioning colony for luxuries, such as ship repair, new SRV etc etc.
Rarely. I tend to binge on high grade mats and then trade them down for what I need.
Don't forget, cross trade to fill your Selenium.
Then trade your remaining G4s down to fill your other grades.

Make sure you empty your g4 bins by trading down before going to the crystaline shard systems.
It usually takes me 2 trips to top everything, but even one trip will get you sorted

Yeah I used to just aimlessly blast around in my SRV on metal-rich planets before this. Makes the whole thing so much more bearable. Be sure to thank Exigeous if you haven't already. I'm just passing his amazing work on
Go mining for painite or LTDs, make loads of cash and collect loads of raw materials. Go to a material trader and trade them up to whatever you need. I'm full now, though it did take quite a bit of mining:
Look on EDSM, go to a planetary site with crystaline shards, these things;

The shards themselves will always, not mostly but always, have raw mats of the highest grade that is present on that body, you fill up on those, it won't take long, then just trade for whatever mats you want at a mat trader. There will be other lower level mats available in the sites so you can grab those if you want, but if you find a body with these crystals and say Polonium as the highest level mat on that body then you will get anything up to 40-50 drops per site of polonium with 3 polonium per drop.
The first time I went I got enough raw mat's to last a couple of months - but that included a fair bit of trading to get Selenium.
When I'd used up about half I traded the rest of 'em for Selenium again and went back.
After that, they last about 3 or 4 months.
Just remember to keep an eye on how much Selenium you're using and keep topping it up by trading.
Ideally, you always want to be in a position where you can top-up your Selenium by trading and then go back to fill up on everything else.
