Best Mining Ship?

Clipper for mining all the way! It's very maneuverable and can jump from one asteroid to another really quickly. Cutter might carry insane amount but getting from one asteroid to another is pain!

I hate the Anaconda for mining... You practically have to jab the roid with that nose and your still too far away. The T9 or T10 (if you like to mine in a Res) are much better. You can get close to the rock and see what's going on, nothing blocking your view.

Hands down, Type-9
Remember, it's a MINING ship, not a fighting off pirates ships ship.

I run one myself, 640 tons of cargo space, all the limpets I could ever need and even some I don't, but are nice to have.

2 Mining Lances, 2 Mining Lasers, and I can and have spent entire days mining away.

It's so massive that it can't even speed (without 4 pips to Engines), and it looks and feels like a mining ship.

I have 3 Pythons set up identically as miners in Alliance, Federation and Empire space.
Triple C2 mining laser, 10 collectors, 192t cargo.
1 hour to fill with 3Ps. Small enough to use medium pads/outposts. Nimble enough to scoot from rock to rock. Cockpit up front so you can get tell when your nose is to the rock.

I've got a Cutter set up as combined exploration/miner for DWE2 with 256t cargo, 3 collectors, 2 prospectors, double C2 mining laser and 40ly jump range empty.

I like the T9 for mining in non res sites... What's wrong with killin things whilst mining?

Cutter
huge cargo bay ✓
Huge Shields ✓
Cockpit at the front ✓
Vast amount of internals ✓
Can fit slf bay without losing much space ✓
Decent jump range ✓
Can defend itself ✓
Fast enough to run away if needed ✓

I have a Corvette and a T10, could buy a Cutter(well I have, sold it, did not like it:()
Currently my mining ship is a Anaconda:)
Anything better?
I like mining:)

I don't have the money for the big ships yet. I have a Clipper kitted for mining and having that has increased my enjoyment of mining no end. Having 8 or so collector limpets scoot about is quite nice to watch, and since they added the material/cargo filters it's made mining much easier...once filters are set you can pretty much ignore the refinery bins and get on with the job.

The T9 is the cheapest of the big ships, and the size of that hold means the cash starts rolling in.

Hello,

I agree on the large and medium vessels, but at the small, there is either the Dolphin
https://eddp.co/u/myJBCaDl
or the Cobra MK IV
https://eddp.co/u/cN4lcCf7

Unfortunately, the Vulture is the only small ship with a class 5 PD. Thus it's the only small ship that can fully support 2 mediums indefinitely with a weapon focussed engineered PD. The Vulture's 2 Mediums allow it to mine twice as fast as two small lasers on, say a Type 7. Also, the Vulture being a small ship let's you get right up close for maximum collection rate with fewer limpets (which is important because it has a crappy cargo hold).
Finally, it is insanely nimble which is the most important when prospecting...
It does lack in the internals, but shieldless it's fine... If you're only after 3Ps for missions, it's the fastest miner of the lot.

The CMKIV is the best general purpose small miner of the lot if you're interesting in picking up a wider array of stuff and not in a hurry.
Again, the problem is the PD runs dry in less than 10 seconds with 2 mediums so you're limited to 2 small lasers, halving it's mining speed.
A C4 PD can support 3 smalls or 1 big and 1 small, but requires regular breaks to recharge, offsetting those limits.

While the Dolphin has nice yaw that makes it a pleasure to mine it, its C3 PD just does not make a good case for mining.. even engineered.

Mining is all about the PD and agility... And cargo if you're not picky about what you mine.

I have a Vulture dedicated to mining. It's a seriously fun ship to mine in.

The iCourier is also a pretty good small mining ship.

Hello,

Python:
https://eddp.co/u/866BCumW
or
https://eddp.co/u/H46xNyHz
Pick up 180+ Limpets and stay in the Ring till your cargo hold is full of Painite (~120,000Cr) or Platin (~50,000Cr) Maybe you have to craft some Limpets, but why not? Iron and Nickel shouldn't be a problem.

Wait... a full cargo on a Python only gives you 120 000Cr after painstakingly shooting rocks forever?

Meanwhile, popping one FdL in a High- or HAZ-RES gives you 100k in less than 3 minutes.

All careers are equal in this game... /s

No, Painite is worth 120k per ton. I did 2-two hour runs last night and netting 15 million in my Python. I finally found some mining missions... Yeah me!

Red Fox Four, if you want some fun, outfit a T10 for mining, bring an SLF and hit a res site, you'll have a blast and make plenty of credits.
