Ships Best Pirate ship?

So im killing time waiting for my explorere to get xfered to where i am so i dont have to make 18 jumps for cigars in this Python. While im waiting im in an Agri system pirating diamonds. Only prob ... im slow as hell and everything gets away lol. What would you suggest i use to do this? ... most of the ships i scan down have anywhere from 60-180 Low temp diamonds. I want the cargo space to carry a decent amount but also want something that i can manuver a bit. Suggestions?

Generally when you pop a few shots at the NPCs they stop trying to get away…

Yes. Except that when they do stop running ... its damn near impossible for me to maneuver enough to take out their power plant before i take out their hull lol.

You know you don't need to take out their power plant… right? They'll just reboot after sometime and jump away anyway.

Just tank their shots and break the hatch, collect the cargo?

A Cobra Mk III, and the iCourier are both fast, and capable. The Cobra has more module slots if I remember correctly. Either of these ships should do the job. You couldn't go wrong with an FAS either. Good luck Commander. o7

What about the Orca? Plenty of speed and internal room with adequate hardpoints that are well positioned.
That said, the only pirating I’ve done is very low level pvp piracy from my Viper.

i was using a FAS for a while before i got the python. Might get another. It did well doing this ... except for the crap cargo space.

I'm convinced you can dominate NPC's and have at least 32 units of cargo space in an FAS. Would you feel a need for more cargo space than that for your pilfering?

You are correct. and maybe im just greedy lol. Nearly everything i pulled out of fsd would have 60+ cargo of those diamonds. some had 100+

It appears that the only reliable way to get lo-temp diamonds is pirating.

Have you put dirty drives on your Python? They really perk the handling up and with 5's, it has a turn of speed. You can use a fairly light build and put on multicannons and with all the internal space you won't lack for room.

I may try to do that some time for variety.

You can Pirate successfully in every ship. My T6 has taken Diamonds before now.

The Python is my preferred ship for LTD's. Mine has clean drive tuning and low emissions because I liked the sound of it. When I started taking diamonds I was using a Cobra and then the Python before I Engineered it. You should start with the mostly harmless and harmless miners. They fly in a straight line and don't reboot. It's not escaped notice that an expert T7 pilots flies better combat evasion than a master anaconda in a cz!

For pp sniping I use 3 X large pulse and I have missiles for back uo if I need to engage a combat target.

Keep practicing. Piracy combines a number of difficult skills and isn't helped by the magic fsd of the NPC.

Stick with it.

I used to use the Cobra Mk 3 and the AspX for piracy but I haven't pirated in some time. Hatch breaker limpets used to work wonders.

I vote Cobra Mk III. My privateer build features a whopping 32t cargo, a shield, and of course the two appropriate limpet controllers & FSDI. Two small pulse lasers and medium multicannons... Perfect for hitting trade-spec vessels. You've got great speed too, which you'll need in higher security systems.

Can't recommend the Cobra enough.
