I am modding my multi cannons and as of now I have overcharged I (was II but i used a favor) with an okay roll (+ 14% power draw) but I do have corrosive. I want to re-roll the crap out of it to get a really high tier but I need nickel. I have lots of conductive components because I just went and killed a ton of ships in the anarchy system but the nickel is a pain to get. Is there a place where I can find planetary bodies with the things that I need? I find nickel from mining a few rocks here and there but wheres the best place near Tod's
I would go to a place where it is found. But that's just silly me...
Search in Galactic map. Or use third party tool (EDDB) to find viable place.
Or forget about the whole thing, because it is a chore.

Just to add to the info above - you'll have to sit in the SRV for a while, if it wasn't obvious.
But Nickel is really common. Just drive around and follow any signal that appears in the bottom portion of the wave scanner.
If it's a planet with at least 15% Nickel deposits, like Kerrash showed, you have basically 50:50 chance to find at least one chunk in any rock you find.
When I'm collecting common resources (most of my ships are engineered with only G1 mods) I usually spend an hour on it and end up with at least 50 units of each material.

if you cant be bothered dropping the SRV blasting rocks in a metallic ring has provided me with over 100 units of nickel which I have vented back into space because there is so much of it!
