Best practices for a plaza?

I know there are some tutorials out there for making plazas, but it seems that the technique has not yet been perfected because of pathing peculiarities.

Is there a generally accepted methodology for easily making large plazas that is considered best practice as we roll into 2018? Thanks for any advice or for a link to a more modern tutorial.

He didn't use the plaza tool however [happy]
If you combibe his technique with the plaza tool you can do some awesome stuff.
For example :
Create the main plaza with the plaza tools to make a big walkable square, then use his technique for the borders.

Yup! Here's a little tutorial to do this. Place down paths in a grid(they don't have to be square and can be any width you want) in whatever blob of a shape,

Then add a path in the corners like this, (experiment with different widths for different results)

Delete that path and you'll get this,

And then go around and do it to all the corners for a nice large plaza,

You can do this on sloped terrain too just as long as the slope isn't too intense.
