Best rare run in the universe... for now

Until Monday, you can completely fill an Asp with rares @16K/T profit. I can only hold 92T because I kitted out mine to defend against anything flying but only had to hold off one player pirate in a Python at Diso in 40 runs and never lost a kilo. But with this run, I could move well over 100T if I had the room. But I still make 1.5M one way and 270K on the return with one fuel stop going and non-stop returning.

Until the 15th you can get 50T at Diso that most know about. But within 5ly of Diso there are another 4 rare stops you can fill up at before making the required 160ly run to sell. My route is Diso(50) -> Uszaa(14)-> Orrere(16) -> Lave(7) -> Leesti(21) then run to 39 Tauri(17) for the return. Because of the weight, I have to stop for gas once at Memkent for the primary leg (have a 5A FR).

The beauty of this run now is the 50T of corn at Diso in one lump. All the other spots dribble out rares in 2-10T chunks in 10 minute intervals until the max is reached. So the entire round trip takes a little over an hour though well over half the time is spent sitting in port waiting to fill up. That's OK w/me cause I catch up on ED and SC forums on my laptop while waiting for the rares on my boxen.

So this one run has allowed me to go from a middlin Asp to fully kitted Imperial Clipper in a week instead of the month I planned on. So thought I would share. Get it while their hot!

Been running this since pre-wings.

0) Wolf 1301 - Saunders Dive <NO BUY>

2) 39 Tauri - Porta
3) George Pantazis - Zamka Platform
4) Zeessze - Nicollier Hanger
5) Altair - Solo Orbiter
6) Epsilon Indi - Mansfield Orbiter
7) Sanuma - Dunyach Gateway <SELL>

0) Sanuma - Dunyach Gateway <BUY>
1) Lave - Lave Station
2) Leesti - George Lucas
3) Diso - Shinfnalport
4) Uszaa - Guest Installation
5) Orrere- Sharon Lee Free Market
6) Wolf 1301 - Saunders Dive <SELL>

I doubt that will be nerfed considering you can make 3million in a 2k/T route an hour in a Type 7. Plus rares are supposed to be that way; buy them, fly off to the other side of the galaxy and make a killing. Since I got my Type 7 with my now overrun route(Prices are all over the place!) i've probably made about 15million in less than a week(Like three or four days?).

Indeed, I know this run as I've done it myself. Only in my Asp I can get to 39 Tauri without fueling, although in my Cobra I did have to stop somewhere or carry a scoop.

Yes, the time-sink mechanic. I used to endure it, but now I'm tired of it frankly, because Alt-Tabbing out off the game constantly to watch YouTube, read forums just keeps interrupting my immersion.

I tend to focus on RES bounty hunting as it's more intense, focussed and I can make the same money but have more loads of fun doing it. Shame becausem when I'm not doing that, I roleplay as a smuggler/salvage and specialist rare trader. However, I'm doing less and less now.

If they fix the time-sink spawn rubbish for rares someday, I might get back into it.

you know its bad design when players have to alt tab and do something else...

i mean that must be the ultimate tip off that something isnt right

I can only hold 92T because I kitted out mine to defend against anything flying

Your combat Asp should allow you 120 tonnes cargo space for rares if you fit a 3A shield generator + 3 x A0 shield boosters. On top of that I add a medium gimballed beam laser, a medium gimballed multicannon, and 4 x small multicannons. I don't pick fights with it, but it can defend itself. That's how my rares trading Asp is kitted out, and it still has 23 LY jump range fully laden.

As long as Diso spits out 50 tons you are actually better off just doing a single long run from Diso to a far away other rare stop. The reason being all the extra minutes that get eaten up docking at each close by system that also sells just a few rares makes it not worth it. Trust me I've done it myself, worked out profit per hour just going Diso to 39 Tauri back and forth vs what you suggested 3-4 close stops each time before the long trip, and just doing the former 1 single stop and back generates much more profit!

This will hold true as long as Diso gives out 50 cargo each time, once that stops, revert back to the 3/4 - long trip 3/4 and back again.

Instead of sitting and doing nothing in a station, I used to just take however much they had available from each station on the list and move on. Your ship still gets reasonably full on each run, and I think (can't quite remember) the profit is better because you're not spending 10% of your time trading rares and the other 90% doing nothing.

In my old Asp route (circa 1.1 I think), I'd get about a million per hour with a 2-hour round trip without waiting around in stations, but I was a bit slow. I'd buy one load of rares from each of these locations in sequence:

SystemStation
39 Tauri
Porta
Fujin
Futen Spaceport
Wolf 1301
Saunders's Dive
Witchhaul
Hornby Terminal
Momus Reach
Tartarus Point
Hecate
RJH1972
Bast
Hart Station
Zeessze
Nicollier Hanger
George Pantazis
Zamka Platform
I might get 75t of a potential ~113t in this area by buying one load per station and moving on.
Cost e.g. 138407cr, payout 1.2m.

Then fly ~160LY to one of these systems, stopping at e.g. Bugas for fuel, sell everything and buy a load of rares from each of these:

SystemStation
LaveLave Station
LeestiGeorge Lucas
Diso
Shifnalport
Orrere
Sharon Lee Free Market
I might get 56t of a potential ~60t in this area by buying one load per station and moving on.
Cost e.g. 98635cr, payout 900k.

Then fly back to 39 Tauri and start again. I never bothered buying the leathery egg. I used this route to fully A-spec my Asp in around a week, but can't remember how much that costs compared to a stock Clipper.

Well I've made 60M in a week in an Asp. Only because of the 50T allotment in Diso that is supposed to end in a few days.

As long as I'm on my laptop to the side, while I leave my boxen screen on (cockpit window), I'm still immersed, just checking comms while sitting in station (even see the occasional scrap of a blown-up ship drift by while loading ;)

I feel more comfortable with max shields when I'm taking on real players in pythons and condas. I'm in it for flying and fighting anyway. Really only doing the trading while the corn special is on.

Yup, I ran the numbes myself after the first couple runs, and it is a little more profitable to run all the time. But to tell you the truth, I would be spending the time on the forums after playing anyway. So I just play twice as long, and don't jump on the forums after. So basically, I am getting paid for browsing the forums :)

Wow, 100 million in a week...might try rares again :)

Only made 60 so far, but have 30 in my Asp and will make another 10 before quitting Sunday. So yeah, the goal is 100M.

A straight Diso-Bast or Diso-Coquim run is more profitable over time, imo. Both Bast and Coquim's rare selling stations are really close to the beacon and come in decent alotments. Both are approx ~150 LY from Diso and work great.

Depends on what your goal is really. If it's just the credits that matter to you then a straight run probably wins, but it can be a huge winner for rep too.
Full loads in an unarmed T6 from the Lave cluster to Witchhaul got me allied with them, so then delivered to Bast - also now allied.
Dumped the last lot at another fed place just beyond Bast (utterly obscure name I can't remember) friendly and rising.
Gone from neutral to friendly in way less time than it took to repair unfriendly to neutral.
Ah, my Bog Spaniels have spawned - back to the saddle (To get allied with the whole of the fed and bring them down from within, haha).

why are you sitting around & loading up?

Strip out anything you dont need (like extra cargo space)
I run an Asp with 64 cargo space. Maximize jump distance.

Collect corn - take to witchhaul. Sell for 750k profit (6 jumps)
take witchhaul rares on offer. take back to Diso for 100k profit.
By the time you sit & wait, dock at multiple sites for your 1.5m, I would have done at least 6 return trips for 4m credits profit.

Check bulletin board for any additional work.
Stop of at Ross 584 (you can sell corn there if you wish for about the same profit - but no return profit)
& spend your credits on upgrades if you need hard to find ones.
Can also go to Lembava (where the current community explorers event is) for Cheaper ships & upgrades.
