I recently tried screen recording with OBS for the first time. I was able to record my desktop just fine, obviously PC has frame rate issues. Its not really that bad though just occasional hiccups, and I think it could be better if I just had the right configurations. I can set it up to record in Display Capture, but when using Game Capture I get a black screen. Not sure if that is an issue, but I tried looking into it and now I'm more confused.
I have my obs-64.exe set to run as admin and in compatibility mode for win7 (I'm running win10) I also have the latest version (i think) of obs 18.0.1 which I read somewhere that older versions are better?? I also tried going into my Nvidia Control Panel and adding obs-64, which gave me the option of using integrated graphics or nvidia. Not sure which is better but it shows integrated by default. Nothing helps get "Game Capture" mode to work though.
When I record, I set PC to lowest setting with resolution at 1024x768 (not sure if that helps much but it doesnt look too bad) and I have OBS set to record in 1024x768 with an upscale of 1366x768. The game actually ran pretty smooth but the video has hiccups, the game shows up great but the video pauses/skips when I rotate the camera.
I've been digging through the OBS settings and testing things, but it seems the more I alt+tab the worse my PC bogs down and I have to restart (annoying! lol). The choices I have for output are quicksync h.264 or x264. the default is h.264 and seems to run decent. Iv tried other tweaks, higher bit rate lower bit rate etc, just wondering what the best setup would be for PC on a low end computer. My specs are above the minimum requirements for PC but just barely, and I am only building small parks (under 2,000 guests at most)
Thanks for any help
