Ships Best Ship for PP?

I'm out taking my time exploring the Eagle Nebula right now, but when I get back, I want to try my hand at Power Play. What are some good ships for it? I may have the money to get a Python and kit it out, but I doubt it.
 
I've got a new python and it's great for doing BB and PP missions while trading at the same time. Of course, the ship is quickly approaching 100 million CR...
 
PP does not contain new action or mission types or something like that. You will do the same things (trading, delivering, smuggling, fighting, maybe sometimes mining and exploring) as bevor the 1.3 update but you will do it mostly on behalf of or to support your chosen power. Take some time to look at the galctic power menu and inform yourself about the powers and their ethos (some rely more on trading, some more on combat). And because the powers compete against themselves, also PVP is a major part.
 
well, there are new missions if you count delivering the contracts, etc to expand/prepare systems for your power. For the Alliance I figure out where our help is needed most and ferry 10 contracts/packets over along with a 190 tons of a commodity the system needs and jump on over.
 
If you are going to mix it up and do delivery missions as well as some undermining combat type stuff probably a Cobra.
Enough cargo space unless you are the highest PP rank and/or dont want to spend credits to beat the 30min timer.
Good jump range.
Usable to go off and interdict some ships in a system far away to undermine a power.
..and cheap.
 
I use a range of ships for PP. The most versatile (and cheap) and the one I keep coming back to for fortification and PvE anti piracy and long range undermining is this

It will stay intact long enough to escape all but very powerful PvP wings.

For reference the other ships are an Anaconda and an FDL.
Hey, I love my combat Asp :)

Just a question about this http://www.edshipyard.com/ site, do you know if all the specs are correct? A friend of mine was telling me Asp shields are 207 and Viper Shields are 200... but i don't know if he was referring to maximum possible or default as you buy...
Do you know what the shield stats on the edshipyard.com/ website are based on, for example?

I'm also finding myself using the Cobra more and more, simply because in the Asp, you can still get caught... In the Cobra, you can escape ;)

Yup.
Using the Cobra as a sort of fast, safe courier in Imperial space.
Pity the actual Imperial Courier is rubbish in that role :p

I just had a Clipper driver threaten me with, "Stop engines, or die, you cannot outrun the Clipper"....
I replied, "Yes I can"
"Boost speed of 420 here"......
I stopped anyway and with no cargo he was happy to let me go (he was with an FDL too)
But later, I was surprised to hear him say his boost speed was also 420!" (I thought Clipper only went up to 370!? o_O)

And wow, 2 Medium and 2 LARGE weapons hardpoints?!

I'm using "Suped up Viper" again!
Such a underrated fighter! ;)
I can boost to almost 420 in it too!!!
