If I want to get away from other players I just head out to the edge of known systems and relax in unexplored systems. It's wonderful

Solo should be removed. period. but thats my opinion.
But only when they make the multiplayer part of it actually multiplayer, instead of singleplayer with some paranoia-inducing silent encounters with pilots who may as well be NPCs with seriously glitchy AI.
Just your opinion isn't really good enough when you're asking to have someone else's freedom limited

Then it'll just be a private group. I don't see any point in removing them since this is NOT an MMO. It's a shared world.
and id be right with you my friend....solo serves those who dont want mmo type organisation but enjoy the challenge of free flight to succeed or not dependent on our whims and choices!
When you finally defeat an elite anaconda you have been battling for 20 mins and getting a 45k bounty in an eagle
Luckily it's not your call. No sense forcing anybody into open who doesn't want it.
I've been playing in open all the time. Just had an amusing few lines of chat with a wanted Viper who was looking to interdict me as I was returning from a bounty hunting trip with 63% hull left on my Cobra. Quite amusing, keeps me on my toes.
