Powerplay Best undermining ship.

So far I have tried:
Asp
Courier
Python
And soonly: Clipper.

So far, the Python is the most efficient, destroying ships before the cooldown is even done. Courier is pretty good against smaller ships, has issues with large ships because of DPS issues.

Caveat: I only have destroy them, and they are mostly transports that are not combat rated. Other types of missions might favor other ships.

Python. 5 guns, medium pad for outpost repairs, very tanky, best shields, why would you use anything else? (Clipper for speed because you don't own a python, but if you don't own a python after all this smuggling then you're doing it wrong)

Federal Assault ship. Turns nicer than the Python and is even PvP capable. (Python is also good for PvP, but you will probably end up turning forever while you try to hit with gimb. weapons against chaffs) :)

It varies. Diamondback Scout has an excellent jump range, the Courier is great fun to fly and I can murder most ships with ridiculous ease in my Clipper (often before my FSD has recharged with smaller ships).

Don't bother using the Clipper. Python, as you mention, is far more efficient at it. 3 x c3 lasers and autocannons. Job Done. Next.

This has a low firepower and can escape anything, which makes it challenging to fight against NPCs and fun to fly among enemy commanders.
Also on the plus side: great jump range.
On the minus side: not very productive if you end up undermining alone.

This has a great firepower and can escape almost anything. Not sure if "fixed" with the recent 1.4.0.1 update but it has an ultra short FSD cooldown, making it a breeze to kill-next-kill-next...
On the plus side: very productive if you end up undermining alone.
On the minus side: lesser jump range and barely challenging, especially if you fly in a wing.

Python = short jump range + can't run away from anything.
Good if you decide to undermine your neighbors and don't fear to be outnumbered/outgunned by a wing of enemy commanders.

anaconda shield 7A gg!
Why would you use that for undermining?
Maybe you find interdictions against NPCs too easy to win?
Or need the biggest firepower to take down Haulers and wings of Sidewinders?
Sure, you can also jump away at any time if ganked by a wing of enemy commanders...
Also, mind not to get scanned when you dock at the station where you are wanted.
;-)

I am thinking to bring my new Courier to an undermining session...sounds very fun to fly and I love the cockpit!
But the jump range turns me off and in the end, it has the same firepower as a Cobra... :(

EDIT: Also, I have met a few enemy commanders flying the Courier...they could not escape my Clipper and did not last long...

Dont' understand...Link this that and the other all you like...I've not had any problems escaping when needed....jump range is fine in the bubble...blaze my own trail.., your mileage may vary.

Cheers !

What is your favorite ship for undermining. Simples.

Hard to say. Everyone will be good, but i think clipper/python on gimballs would be the best. The most of my undermining was in FDL on fixed.
I am sure people are earning merits even in ships like a Cobra or Viper. There is nothing special in beating a transport ships like a hauler/adder/l9.

Mmhhh...did I mention that by "escaping" I meant PvP, facing skilled players clearly outfitted to take other players down?
Once I met a Fer de Lance clearly optimized for speed, equipped with 4x Imperial Hammer (you know you can't escape in a straight line from this, right?)... I was glad to fly a Clipper with top speed maxed out that day.

As for jump range, it's a long way to fly from Archon to Aisling space, you know? And when you have limited time to play...

if you play solo/private, i guess pyton is the best one (excluding the case you have some interdiction bug). Fast kills and small landing pad avalable.

In open mode, i honestly dont know, never tried that, but probably the game is a little different against other players bumping into you when you dont expect.

Wut? Nobody uses a vulture? Hands down the best for this task. Undermining means interdiction small, easy to defeat ships. Why on earth would you use a python or Ancona for that?
Imp courier also works very well btw.

I typically enjoy the Clipper for undermining, but I've spent so much time in an Anaconda lately that my accuracy with fixed weapons in the Clipper is all over the place.

With my Clipper, I have already blasted to pieces a few players flying Couriers. Unlike what it was initially designed for, the Courier is slow if outfitted to optimize shield and decent firepower.

And for the Vulture...well, maybe I will stop there actually...I mean, it all depends whether you are a result oriented person, or not, and whether you play open or solo. If you refer to my previous post and understand my points, you will get it.

Ideally, always keep a large fixed weapon on a Clipper, to ignore chaff.
Or, take advantage to the max speed of the Clipper to get really close to your prey, then open fire with your gimballed weapons. At short range, they will still hit.

What I meant was that the Clipper behaves very differently compared to an Anaconda. I've used the Anaconda with fixed weapons over the past two weeks for the community goals, and I've gotten used to the pitch rate for that ship. The Clipper is much more 'twitchy', I just have to re-adjust to it.

I see what you mean.
Yep, it was also a shock to me when I decided (for some unfortunate reasons) to fly a T9 for about two weeks...every-time I switched to my Clipper, I felt like driving on soap-wet floor :)
I still feel about the same when I switch from an Anaconda, but less. But in the end, the Clipper, with his boost + inertia + agility allow you to "dance" around your prey, under constant fire...gimballed recommended...
