best vulture hardpoints?

Hey guys

Can you give me some advice on how to outfit my vulture for combat? I want to get it right given that it only has 2 hardpoints. What's the most efficient way to take out powerplants on large ships (clippers, drop ships, pythons, condas)? Or, just the most efficient killing setup overall?

Thanks

I guess you do what everyone else does - load up on Pulse or beam lasers, target the power plant & rake in kills while you slip into a coma.. And some have the cheek to say trading is mind numbing.

Large beams will drain the Vulture's short power in seconds and fry the ship with heat, even with fully upgraded power supply and distribution. And medium beams are a waste of large hardpoints.

Better use 2 large pulses, or 1 large beam and 1 large canon.

Large pulses worked fine for me, could bounty-hunt for ages without having to rearm.

i use 2 gimballed pulse lasers on mine, never need to reload, works well enough for me

This setup is often touted as the most efficient for use on a Culture - with an A grade district you can put 4 pips to WEP and it seems it takes forever to drain the capacitors. Couple this with the C3 pulses being the most cost effective lasers in class (damage per energy).

Other setups work as well, but most require more management unlike twin pulses. My preference is for the beam/cannon combo.

My vulture is c3 burst laser + c3 cannon for weapons (both gimballed). You can assign 3 pips to both shields and weapons and not have to worry about shifting them
I doubt its optimal - but it works for me :)

2 x large gimballed pulse lasers + A-rated power distributor. You'll be able to fire constantly for about 40 seconds without overheat, and they'll cool within 5 seconds.

having tried various configs, dual gimballed pulse is the way to go, they have A rated pen so they work just great on armor as well as shields. burst and beam take too much power and require to you skimp too much on other modules, while pulse lets you run A internals, and the DPS is just fine.

The Vulture's biggest problem is it';s power management, requiring you to make compromises, going Pulse lasers means you don't have to compromise on defense, while only making a very small offensive compromise.

Attack is the best form of defence.

Max this out and you won't need boosters etc.

I run a gimballed Pulse and a gimballed Multi-Cannon. Knock down the shields with the laser then turn your target into Swiss cheese with the cannon.

It works for me.

I'm using 2x fixed beams(gimballed make lazy;)). They do drain the capacitor quickly so you need to be sparing or accurate with your aim. I only need to worry about overheating if I'm in combat close to a star.

I'm also running with 2 shield boosters so power management is a must.

2 gimballed pulse is the only way to go! Frontier thought it would be real funny to have great weapons that you can't use 'cos of power issues..great idea,no? I tried one beam, one cannon..great fun, but got fed up running out of ammo..tried beams-awesome damage, but you have to play follow the enemy while not shooting while waiting for heat levels to drop (yawn!). tried fixed pulses, but could not stay on certain targets from close range (150-400 m) very effectively..essential when taking on the high ranked condas, clippers, dropships and pythons.
Has anyone else noticed the fragment cannon assaults from these ships now..after I said how they were so easy to kill without even getting a direct hit on my ship..a week later took on an anaconda..it stripped my shields, despite not losing close range contact once, from its engines..that's cheating FD!

C3 gimballed beam and C3 gimballed Canon.
Power management to match.
.
That was the setup I originally had on my Vulture. The Beam took down any shield quickly, then up close and personal and let rip with a few rounds from the Cannon. As for running out of ammo, as I only used the Cannon when I could reasonably guarantee a hit - for example, very rarely used it on smaller ships - I found the ammo would run out about the time I needed to head back to cash in bounties or take a break.
.
Eventually got bored with that setup, wanted a little more of a challenge so I switched to twin gimballed pulse lasers. Not as much fun, as I loved the sound of the cannon and the thud it would make.
.
As others have said, the big secret with the Vulture is power management, spent many hours on Corolios.io trying different combinations of modules until I could get a setup that gave me 99.9% power usage when deployed.

I have tried all the weapons I can on my "A" class Vulture but have settled on C3g Beam and C3g Canon, seems to work the best for me
