Best way to earn a reasonable amount of credits

Hello my fellow Commanders,

I've been play this game for a few weeks and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. In the beginning I managed to get a nice jump start on my career by selling rares and eventually I was able to get a Cobra Mk III. So, for the past week, or so I've been doing random missions and killing random (wanted) NPCs.

I've done some trading, netting about 100k and hour. I've even attempted some mining, although I believe I failed miserably at it. So I decided to ask for some advice, I KNOW their are plenty of multi millionaires in our galaxy flying ASP and higher. My question is how? How did you manage to make so much money, give me points, tips, a place to start.

Thank You - An Appreciative Commander

In a type 6. I use an extended version of this route and get about 1 mill every 45 mins.

It is a bit boring though. Bounty hunting Asassin missions pay 150k a pop might be worth it to rank up Combat Rating if you have a ship capable of taking an Anaconda/Dropship.

WOW ... now I think about all that time I've used flying around goofing off

Edit: quick question: the stuff your selling is on the right I take it?

I'd suggest that in a cobra your not on a good trade route for 100k per hour

I reckon on my route that I could at least treble that

once you move up out of a cobra your ability to make money goes up quite massively. I can make over 250k in one jump now at least

I've had my best pay days selling rares. Once you can afford a ship with about 100 or so cargo units you can skip the rare trades and find yourself a nice single-jump route between two systems where you can make about 150,000cr every 10 minutes or so if you can find the right balance of supply and demand on high value commodities. Beware... this is BORING. Still you're talking about 900,000cr an hour. Grind until you can afford a Type 7 or a Type 9 then start making even more credits. Basically the only limit is how much of the boring you are willing to take. I didn't enjoy it so I'm taking missions for Federal Congress and the Federal Navy trying to advance in a military career.

Yeah I had a Imperial Slave route from one station to another that was only 1 LS away in the same system. Was racking up 2mill+ an hour on 100 ton Lacon. Dull as ditchwater, they mucked it up in a patch however so turned to rares. I agree though it is a dull way to make money, but a great way at the beginning. I prefer missions and fighting now.
