Best way to get heat/power down on FGS?

How fast do they burn off the heat? Might be a better idea so I can retain some heat for caustic damage when needed. If they do.any damage to thier shields it sounds like a winner

It basically inverts the thermal load, so the hotter the beam, the cooler the effect.

Beams are hard on the capacitor however, so it's potentially counter productive in the long run.

Despite how it might seem, clean drives are still a massive improvement over stock drives, speed and manouvreability go. It reduces the stress Dirty Drives can put on you heat-wise, if heat is REALLY bad. My FGS has them and an armored power plant and I very, very rarely run into heat problems, even spamming Overcharged Incendiary MCs.

That is your powerplant, not the thrusters.
Powerplant heat is factored with all of the modules.

Dirty drives are just better, and used in all manner of really high heat applications.

In conclusion, clean drive tuning is not a "useless" mod as I originally asserted as it has a niche use in silent running. However, clean drive tuning does have a misleading name in so far that clean drives do not provide any advantage over dirty drives outside of silent running.

Sounds to me like the cold utilitarian logic of a fuel magnate. Don't listen to this guy's lies!

Nah, just math.

6A Dirty/drag drives draw 8.467 MW.
6A Clean/drag(or thermal) drives draw 8.77 MW.

That's pretty significant in terms of outfitting,
It also means you're more likely to need more power to begin with, ie a less efficient powerplant.

And you're going slower with no benefit.

Is there any simulator websites that allow you to show outfitting options before you buy them? Ie. Shows ship stats and outputs with hypothetical modules and engineering

Those modules are no longer giving off heat when they are powered down, that's why.
There’s no thermal stat associated with any of those modules though, none that I can find...

Shields, sensors, PD, boosters...

None of them directly increase your heat, it’s the power draw (load on pp) that does.

So surely it’s by lowering total power draw that increases your ability to tolerate heat or why bother turning them off when exploring?

FSD and Thrusters both have the thermal load stat.

Use EDSY.

It is the PP that draws the most heat, i think I've gone wrong on the thrusters. The enhanced PP seems to bring it down considerably now. Guass cannons are VERY hot anyway. Goin to go through EDShipyard a few times and see what I can do. With a few tweaks I can get power and heat down enough to be sustainable in a long fight Without taking too much mod damage. (I've seen the rebuy screen twice. By being careful and cowardly, I'd rather be careful in a bug hunt)

PP heat efficiency is factored with every module, that's why.
Don't overlook the PD, that is a huge part of the equation.
Gauss cannons have high PD draw.

A med gauss draws 7.2MW
A med gimballed beam is only 3.44MW!

Load it with 5 Plasma Accelerators with Thermal Conduit and a pair of small beam lasers with Thermal Vent.

You will understand the power of the Dark Side once you give in to your heat.
