Newcomer / Intro best way to raise reputation?

Hey all, I just downloaded this game and haven't had a huge amount of time to sink into it quite yet. Now that I have a much much better understanding of the controls and the travel in the game, I'm running into a problem with mission availability. The missions I have done so far were the typical "take this from A to B" netting between 3-6k credits. Now it seems all of the missions aren't available to me because of reputation. No one trusts me enough. What exactly am I supposed to do to get this raised to open up more missions? Even if I can open up just one faction that would help out tremendously.

Oh FYI, I'm still using the stock starter ship with all stock upgrades if that matters, and I currently have 16k in the bank.

Thanks again! loving the game so far

The selection of missions is always randomised so you will probably find if you go to a different station you'll get more missions you can access - don't expect this to be a lasting problem.

So far as I can tell, all missions raise reputation the same kind of amount. So in your position I would suggest doing missions that earn you money reliably (haul goods for them or bring goods X here when you have a known source of good X). The "donate goods" missions that only offer "reputation gain" end up costing you money - if you have an offer of donating some algae then go for it - but a mission to donate 4 personal weapons would clean you out so don't take that :)

Each individual sub-faction has its own reputation score so it's best to focus as far as possible on doing missions for one of them.

Don't forget that behaviour like failing missions or committing crimes also takes your rep down a notch (potentially quite a big one for crimes like murder!!)

Early game trading and selling exploration data is a good way to align with the locals. Check the system map and see who actually owns the station by clicking on it. That is who will be influenced by turning in data or making trades.

To find out which faction is which and what they are about, go to the right panel in the cockpit. On the first tab you can click through multiple pages. The second page display factions political influence in that system with bars indicating %. Click each faction to see what form of government they have and their beliefs. Keep in mind just because say the feds own the system there may be independent, corporate, civilian etc. Stations I'm that system. These sub factions may or may not be aligned with major factions.

when i want to kickstart my rep i usually go on a exploration run.
scan a 10 systems or so then return back and sell the data to the local faction i want to raise rep whit.
that usually puts me into good standing.
(note this gives local sub faction standing and not faction rank for the three major factions)

This works really well.

I forgot to add it doesn't always show the changes immediately sometimes not even till you log on and off but the changes do register. If it isn't fixed yet a dev said it will be fixed soon.
