Ship Builds & Load Outs Best way to spend 50mil for PvE without access to engineers?

Hi, I’ve tricked out my Asp Ex for mining and have a Cobra for buzzing around in, but now I have 50mil built up I’d like to get into some of the assassination missions and bounty hunting in res sites. I haven’t yet unlocked any engineers so my build is going to be stock components but I will start engineering soon.

I played for a little while on PS4 but just started on PC so I’m not yet totally familiar with loadouts etc. so any builds you could share to put me on the right track would be greatly appreciated!

I read Vulture is popular and seems to get even better with engineering, but struggle to find any recent builds (I assume the updates make changes to things?).

Thanks!

All ships will benefit greatly from engineering but there's a fair bit of work involved unlocking them and ranking up to the highest levels, if you have the correct Fed rank the FAS is worth a look (a bigger more powerful Vulture) or the Chieftain similar to the FAS but with better shields and a more flexible weapons array

FAS

Chieftain

You should be able to buy ships and equipment at Le Yong Rui stations for 15% discount, add his name in the power box and your current location https://eddb.io/station

Make sure it’s something you can afford to get blown up often, and if you manage to limp away, be able to afford the repairs. I certainly wouldn’t want to learn in a ship that costs 10s of millions of credits. Maybe someone here has a good build for a ship that is good to learn in. The Viper Mk 3 and Viper Mk IV seem to be popular starter ships (and some people even use them for PvP, so they’re very good ships). The Vulture is a good ship as well, and I just bought one, but it’s a little more maneuverable and twitchy than I’m use to so I gotta practice.

Speaking of engineers, here’s a straightforward guide to unlocking them:

Not sure, what's the best way to spend 50 mill without access to engineers, but I know what the best way to spend £4.80 is in this unfortunate situation.

[noob] PvE or PvP, unlocking the Engineers is a very worthy goal, if you do not have Horizons it is on sale at the FDev store right now for $7.20 USD. Unlocking Engineers will keep you busy for several weeks or even months, will force you to try out every role in the game and when you are finished you should have a decent bankroll as well as much, much more capable ships. Along the way you will also get a decent amount of practice in combat.

Without those benefits, spending 50 million on a combat ship will mostly just get you an expensive ship in which to get blown up. o7

Hey. I think I may of misled a little. I do have access to the engineers, what I meant to say I was yet to start working on them / don't have resources to engineer anything so it's going to be stock for a while. I have since unlocked Felicity and got my second new Asp Ex FSD up to level 3 for travelling distances. I've also built a Vulture (did the over charged power plant to lvl 1 so far but nothing else). Find the grind for raws and data a real pain so I can move onto unlocking my next engineer for dirty drives (which seems to be popular for PvE) etc..

Anyhow, right now I am sitting in resource sites and just picking away at people and letting the security forces help out a little then firing out the limpets to grind out resources and scanning wakes. In between I'll go to a plant and drive around for resources. I have 60 million sitting from deep core mining which was rediculously easy to the point cash almost has little meaning (hence why I stopped mining as it felt to easy to race ahead). I'm deffo looking for PvE and mostly curious what is the best 50 mil to sink into a PvE ship so I can then later work on engineering it. It seems so much grinding to engineer I didn't want to waste resources and time on modules on a ship just to later regret not spending the time on something different. I have a second Asp Ex geared for deep core so rebuy is only 30 mins away even if I am stone broke. Maybe just working on the Vulture is the right goal right now?

I lika the Pew Pew. That being said, in your situation just stick with a Vulture for now and maybe try to Outfit a Dolphin and do some Passenger Missions. I have a #5Luxury compartment and two #4 Business class. In the last 24 hours I made 38 mil. Couple more days and I will have enough to Outfit a Mamba for some Pew Pew!!

My suggestion: Go do one more mining trip and for 70mil get your hands on a fully A-rated Chieftain. The rebuy is 4mil and you can poke at any AI ship with confidence.

However, there's nothing wrong with a Vulture either, might just as well stick with one.

Vulture is a great ship. If you lika da Pew Pew, like I do, then you will live in one. You can build a killer Vulture for way less than 20 mil and enjoy every minute of it. For Res farming, you dont need ultimate PVP type stats. Just two low draw Pulse Lasers will turn the trick for you, time after time. No reloading. You will need a Kill Warrant scanner, some shield boosters, and a Chaff launcher. Too bad you havent done any Engineering quests. Opening up The Dweller and getting your Lasers reworked "Efficient" does wonders for a Vulture.
