Best weapons for small hardpoints?

Both Cobra and Viper I run gimballed beams. Good for stripping shields fast.

I put a seeker missile launcher on one of my Cobra's small hardpoints. It works excellently when you really need that extra firepower and don't care about ammo cost (though I usually still profit while using them).
Also, for PvP, it's excellent for those who do not want to participate in my sharing of the emperor's embrace. I also think it provides a certain uh-oh factor in PvP fighting. A single seeker missile can do a lot of hull damage to Cobras or lighter.

Personally I find gimbal pulse on small, and fixed multicannons on medium. Gimbal pulse so they stay on target as you lead for your fixed cannons. Lasers strip shields really quick. I like pulse cuz low heat. Kinetic/projectile destroy hulls quick. I like multicannons for cheap ammo cost and great damage. I like them fixed cuz I have no problem liening up a target. Also remember that the better your sensors are effects how well gimbal/turret weps aquire and stay on target. Good luck CMDR! o7

Gimballed beams for me, they'll strip even an anaconda's shields soon enough, leaving your big slots for the hull

I think they say 1 medium weapon is the equivalent of over 2 small weapons if that is of any use. I prefer gimballed Burst lasers on my small hard points and hard hitting hull damaging weapons on medium hard points. If NPC's are attacking my target I want to make sure I get the kill by firing the big gun last.
It's been my experience with both the Cobra and Viper that better sensors decrease the sway in my gimbal pulse lasers, and increase their targeting range.

I didn't know that! I'll have to play with that, as well!
As for me, I run pretty much the opposite setup. Gimbal multicannons in my smalls, fixed class 2 pulse lasers in the mediums.
