Beta 1 Question - New Player

Hey All Fellow Captains.

I am new to Elite Dangerous and have a question:

When you start the game up there is a list of missions you can play...what I would like to know is..are these missions linked? If you start one do you carry your ship over to the next? I hear people talking about exploring and trading and that sounds like a "sand box" mode yet I do not see that option.

I would appreciate any information/advice you are willing to share.

Welcome to ED!

When you start a game, make sure you choose multi-player/online for the sandbox. There are missions that you get from the space stations within that.

Don't get these confused with the single player missions which are really just to help you get used to the controls and practice combat. Your progress in the single player scenarios are short lived.

The sandbox/multi player mode is persistent so you "live" one life with your ship across all missions you choose etc (well, until you get blown to pieces and need to get another ship!)
